Quest 3 Accessories What’s a Must

Have gotten my daughter a quest 3 and I hope she likes it, she hinted she wanted one so got the quest 3 over the quest 2 which was very tempting on Black Friday.
As this device is pretty expensive what did you use temporarily until you got a case for it.
I just can’t see myself getting the meta orginal one as very pricey.
But did see one on offer from Amazon au but comes from usa.
Had pretty good reviews and was for the quest 3.
What do you guys have regarding a case etc.

The meta charging dock seems cool but got that’s crazy expensive you would think there accessories would be way less, it’s not as if the machine was cheap.

And I’m sure the accessories for the q2 are not compatible with q3 so same might be the case for q4 if there ever is one.
But not having old accessories work on newer model is just a money grab.
Not that I have owned the q2 just saying.

As it’s an Xmas gift I’m hoping to maybe Jump in and grab a case for it first as it’s an expensive gadget to have lying around more so when you have a close to 8yr old who might want to grab sisters q3.

I’m just curious of owners who got accessories what they got and why

  • strap.
wow what a lucky girl. when i was kid the most expensive presents were probably worth $100.

  • You should wait and see how comfortable she finds the Q3 before getting a case. I was hopeful the new redesigned straps would be good enough but wasn’t tolerable for me. So I upgraded to the elite strap. On Q2 I had the kiwi design one and it was better than the official elite strap on Q3 IMO.

If she is comfy with the basic strap then you’ll know you don’t need to accomodate for an elite type strap in the case.

Oh and the dock is great. Best part is recharging the controllers, but I find it fiddly to catch connection to headset.

  • I was eyeing up this case.

Does not seem to much accessories for the q3 yet or even from kiwi designs

  • +1

I have a Q2 and the two worthwhile ones I got were the halo strap and the hand grips, all third party.

If you wait a little while, there'll be great quality 3rd party options on aliexpress and probably amazon.

It just lives in the cupboard so no need for a case.

  • Advanced head strap, hand straps too are probably the two main ones you should purchase.

  • But does not seem to be that much options for the q3 right now compared to the q2

  • if you guys want a good elite strap that gives you 4 hours more battery life on you quest 3, and that comes from an Australian company get this one https://kronosvr.com/products/kronos-elite-battery-head-stra…

its well priced and well worth it very conformable durable and good battery, on it 10x better than the official elite strap with battery and about 100 bucks cheaper.

and it has RGB you can turn on or off lol.

    • This only place that sells it? No amazon? Any reviews on it don’t really know much about it to compare with others.
As q3 is not that long released maybe there is better ones in the making and worth the wait.

Do you own the device linked? Or own the business and reasons on this over others. Thanks

      • amazon has it under a different brand. and yes I ordered this a friend of mine recommended it to me, and she loves it very good battery life and comfort. I believe this is the same headset just with a different brand name.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16Ub34pA1mw

        • Why would amazon sell it under a different brand? It’s it’s a brand name then sounds strange to be calling it something else be it one you linked or amazon calling it something else.
I don’t know or know very little of this one to just go grab one and I also like to have options on where to buy.
Reviews are important as well to see what otters think.

          • @bwatt72: i think its a no brand item but different companies pick it up and put there brand on it.

            • @kungfuman: If I made an item and was a great brand or became very successful I would like to put my name to it.
Does not make sense all sorts can sell it and call it something else or call it there one.

        • I missed that link on vid I will check that out later

        • Good review from you tube but just need more reviews and options on where I can get it ie amazon which is easy returns.

          • @bwatt72: ok I got it yesterday put it on very nice head set for the price, turned of RGB because I don't care about that lol

I played wireless PSVR over airlink for 5 hours before it ran out of battery on the quest 3 charging is good its got a good balance to it, feel strong, very comfortable. So far so good let you know if it lasts though. if it lasts more than 3 days its doing better than the recalled elite strap from meta lol.

            • @kungfuman: What’s psvr over airlink

              • @bwatt72: I mean to say PC VR over airlink. :D the headset is weighty :D with that 8000mah battery in it.

            • @kungfuman: Yes but what’s PSVR over airlink is this linked to a pc?

              • @bwatt72: o I have a dedicated Access point wifi 6 that I connect to for airlink

no wires. Airlink is oculus wireless solution for pc vr

                • @kungfuman: Ok so works with oc don’t have a gaming pc lol

  • If amazon sold it and had reviews that looked ok I might be more interested you say it comes from an Australian company so why are they not selling on there as I’m sure they sell more being listed on there

    • this looks like a similar version of it https://www.amazon.com/Orzero-Accessories-Compatible-Extended-8000mah/dp/B0CJM655FW/?encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=1ZS4P&content-id=amzn1.sym.da24a24a-8edd-4b61-8b08-8da82b8fa54e%3Aamzn1.symc.0be80b80-fece-46bc-88bd-c8e6394f049e&pf_rd_p=da24a24a-8edd-4b61-8b08-8da82b8fa54e&pf_rd_r=SKV49CR2Q9Y4AQ46PZDX&pd_rd_wg=0NZhd&pd_rd_r=b90156ff-c2a0-498d-b410-fe5743449dd5&ref=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m&th=1

but there are many brands of this on amazon with the same headset.

      • How does one know the one you mentioned originally is same as otters?
Or even as good as the YouTube one might be slight differences or not actually the same.

One you linked is from overseas seller of amazon why does au not have it stocked on there if it’s available elsewhere within Amazon.
Did you not say it was made by Australian company sorry I read that again sold by an Australian company surely others in Australia sell it.
As what sort of profit is this company making on them.
Personally it’s good to have options of where to buy it from not just the one place in Australia.

It does look good but I’m just not sure.

        • the company that sells it is Australian doesnt' mean the suppliers not from another location. I am pretty sure its one supplier that companies just buy from and put there branding on it.

          • @kungfuman: Do you actually have it yet what’s your thoughts based in reviews they say it’s comfortable headset but the battery part of it waste of time.
The YouTube vid said you can play with it up to 6 hrs that’s a long time.
But many reviews say that it does not charge while playing only when it’s not being used.
I’m new to this device to be honest it’s not for me but daughter and who knows I may grab myself one someday on a sale.

But I’m just not sure if there is better for the money currently or there is better headset coming soon for it.
As this one is not that cheap considering what was paid for q3, it’s sort of crazy meta as this money for such device and yet offer accessories ie head strap etc.
It’s like they know they are shit but don’t give you the better stuff as standard.

Personally nobody should have to buy new items for it to make it more comfortable or even last longer.

Yes Mets is popular at the moment but I’m sure there be similar items as this gets popular vr and there be better devices to have.
It just seems to me meta are sort of ripping us off look at the q3 it was only two versions of gb not a middle of road one.
Then as said they sell these extras as they supply what I’m hearing lesser not so good ones with devices.
Yes it’s good to offer better products from meta but these should come as standard as i believe the q2 had same strap issues and so had this.

            • @bwatt72: the elite strap was very good on the quest 2 when I had it since launch for some reason the quest 3 elite strap has problems and they pulled it from sale.

              • @kungfuman: Yes but elite strap should come as standard and have it as replacement purchases after that, I am sure adding the elite strap to the device would not make it much more expensive.
The fact they know what comes originally with be it q2 or q3 and still give us a crao one.
When as said an elite strap suppled as standard, I did not have to buy the device but it’s just crazy you sort of need to buy or spend more to make it more comfortable.
To me this is just a money grab, i am actually surprised so many people buy into the q2 or q3 when they know the strap it comes with is shit.
As a company you would think the fix this problem at least from q3 as I am sure it same for q2.

I was very reluctant to get the q3 and was thinking of q2 but it’s 3 years old now and new one has more going on with it etc.
Yes I could have got daughter the q2 and she probably would have been happy but I know she will like the motion reality can’t remember what it’s called and why buy into older tech when new is available.

She certainly will be happy with it im sure.

      • Is this the same thing nordquest vr Quest 3 Comfort Strap with Battery Pack with just another name

  • Go for an aftermarket head strap, there are some with a built-in or swappable battery (bobvr) that will extend the battery life by discharging the headset slower. It might cause issues when trying to lie down and use it though.

Another recommendation is to use a comfortable head strap without a battery and instead use a high-power output power plug with a long (3m-5m) USB C cable. One end should be a right angle to reduce strain on the headset port. This will allow for unlimited use unless you are walking around the house of course. You could also get a high-powered power bank to put in your pocket and keep it connected to the headset.

A charging stand is not needed, just a nice-to-have. I would focus on an aftermarket head strap first as the stock one gets uncomfortable.

    • So are you saying the bobvr is the one to get I was just looking into the bobvr m3 I think was plus other day it seems that the bobvr is very popular and everyone is finding it hard to get hold of none on Amazon.
But people are saying there is still issues with it battery does nothing really and to wait for the 18w-22w which due out soon.

Are you saying other brands or battery ones are not good for the device?

      • I don't have the bobovr, and yes many mention it doesn't have the correct wattage to support holding a charge. However it will slow down the battery discharge on the Quest 3 headset to give you more play time. In other words it won't go down to 0% as quick.

I just use a different brand, a head strap without a battery, and instead I just use a long usb c cable and charger that can support 65w or 100w I think.

Look around on Amazon, ebay and aliexpress (if you can wait on shipping).

  • Can anyone recommend some sort of sweat guard?
