AstralPools Halo Chlorinator System

I thought I'd post this here to combat the anti-competitive supplier practices that prevent pool shops from displaying equipment prices online, and supplying equipment to interstate locations.

I was searching for supply prices for the Astral Halo 35 Chlorinator and Halo Doser bundle, which includes the pH & ORP monitoring probes and peristaltic dosing pump.
These are part of the Halo Connect suite of equipment designed to provide basic water chem management, WiFi monitoring & control for your pool.

The prices I received had a huge range.

At the top-end, my local Poolwerx franchise (Sydney) refused to provide anything other that RRP of $3,200 for the Chlorinator + $1900 for the pH Doser.

At the low-end, a pool shop on the Gold Coast in QLD offered the Chlorinator for $1,915 + pH Doser for $1,160.

However, they were unable to organise interstate delivery due to their supplier agreement with Fluidra.
They were still happy to sell me the kit, but I would need to organise my own pickup and shipping from their shop.

The best "bang-for buck" surprisingly came from my local independent pool shop (suburban Sydney) who offered competitive pricing of $2,000 for the Chlorinator + $1,250 for the pH Doser, plus installation for $150.
I'm more than happy to pay a small premium to use a local business.

Have a look on ebay. Astral much cheaper on there.

    • There are no complete Halo Chlorinator units listed on eBay for sale.

      Parts, yes.
      Full systems, no.

The ebay retailers are bound by the same shitty anti-competitive rules as the shops

I got an e25 for about $600 less compared to poolwerx

        • I got an e25 for about $600 less compared to poolwerx

          That's nice.

          However:
          1) The E25 is a different product. Entirely different capability, functionality and Chlorine production capacity.
          2) I don't think you actually read my post, because I said that PoolWerx were the most expensive.
          3) My reply above still stands. Halo units are not available on ebay.

    Thanks for the info OP.

How Poolwerx manages to stay in business I'll never know. I understand that their prices have to be high because they must have such a large cost base (due to their physical stores), but who would actually buy products from them when they charge such a premium. I'm guessing that a lot of their revenue must come from people paying Poolwerx to maintain people's pools on a regular basis.

  • I discovered a hidden system menu on the Halo Chlorinator that allows you to display the actual ORP value on the Halo screen and also on the app screen.

I made a video on how to access the menu.

  • Very interesting - I’ll keep them in mind if I choose to upgrade to this lol
