  • Shame it’s not for transfer.

    • Agreed. Currently using PB and they are quiet good.

    • Yeah unfortunately transfers offers are typically quite rare. I'm pretty sure there's a three dollar off coupon for transfers for Porkbun which is valid for one for each extension type.

Unfortunately, the dynadot transfer offer also expired which just leave Spaceship a.k.a. Namecheap new brand that they're operating at a heavy lost to grab market share if you want discounted rates on transfers and renewals.

Three dollar off transfer coupon has expired, but that was only valid for a short period however, this is valid still just posted it here

  • I’ve recently moved a few domains to cloudflare, who pass on the wholesale rate and promise (lol yeah I know) to always do so. Sick of registrars offering a good price for the first two years and then driving it up after that.

    • Yep I've also moved my domains to Cloudflare. Already use them for DNS, so it works out well.

    • Cloudflair has lots of limitations and problems of it's own. Notably that there is no actual support its community based and community based escalation unless you're on one of their paid plans and you're always required to use their name servers and manually control your DNS zone with them.

Porkbun is a low cost registrar that has a similar business model except their goal is to be 1 to 2 dollars over wholesale. While Cloudflair does offer standard wholesale pricing with the limitations above. If you understand the industry, you would know that these first year discounts are most likely getting pocketed by Cloudflair and not passed on to you.

Having to use their DNS is a big one for me, after seeing how long the last Cloudflare outage lasted. I know that sort of stuff doesn't happen often, but it's still too often for me.
