Monitor for Office/Education Work under $150?

Good evening all,
I am a high school teacher who has decided to do away with the laptop - eye strain, lack of productivity etc. I have limited desk space so I am aiming for a monitor in the 24-inch domain. I don't mind whether it is 1080p or 2k; I just need it for general word processing etc. I am looking to pay up to $150 - it will be staying at school…so I don't want to break the bank.

Does anyone have any recommendations or things to look out for? I am definitely out of my depth as I haven't purchased a new monitor in over a decade.

It will be paired with a mini-PC with appropriate HDMI ports.

TIA!

I found these. Any tips?

As you're using it at work, it needs to have height adjustment to comply with ergonomic/safety requirements; e.g.

  • Why use a mini pc when you already have a laptop? You can also connect your laptop to monitor and mouse keyboard.

The laptop is beyond terrible (public school teacher…need I say more) and with a monitor, external keyboard, mouse, etc, wont fit on my desk. Plus, I'd like to have the flexibility of a work station that stays put without having to be plugged in and unplugged up to five times a day with each class. I intend to mount it on the back of the monitor so it can free up space.

All monitors are suitable for Office/Education Work, any of the ones you linked would be fine and are of relatively similar spec 1080p monitors with a hdmi input.

But if you want further info on monitors and what the different specs on them mean, can check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEAyY9dzAZ0

Go second hand/refurb. Anything from the past few years for a basic 1080p screen will generally be fine. Advantage of a refurb is it's tax deductible, but monitors don't hold their value at all unless they're high res, curved or such.

  • Would you recommend the:

    or

    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/accessories-and-software/moni…

I can get both at the same price - I know the Lenovo has a VA panel which is generally…not great? But it's contrast ratio is 3000:1 as opposed to the MSI at 1000:1. What do you think?

Begs the question… why do you have to purchase your own stuff for work? Why not get a 27-inch? They're pretty much set at optimal height so don't need an adjustable stand.

      • Because not all work places are gifted an office station or suitable work equipment. I have limited space, 24-inch is the sweet spot.

My question is more so connected to the previous post; those are the two that seem the best fit.
