[Freight Forwarder Required] TAG Heuer Automatic Aquaracer Chronograph Mens Watch CAF2113.ba0809 USD $1581 + Post

Moved to Forum: Original Link

I understand many Ozbargainers probably wear $50 chinese quartz watches so the idea of paying more than a couple of hundred dollars for a watch is potentially insane to them. For those of us interested in real watches here is an interesting deal I found at one of the online 'grey market' watch shops I occasionally visit.

I have never brought from them but they get an OK reference on watchuseek and I'm pretty sure they dont sell fakes. This is a grey market watch so it wouldnt come with the original manufacturer's warranty but the shop themselves say they will warrant it themselves if anything goes wrong.

I had a quick look online and most of the overseas shops seem to be selling for around $2500 ish. It is a discontinued model but it is a Tag Heuer Automatic Chronograph. I'm not into Tags (more of an Omega man) but I kind of liked the look of this one. They have a few others on their site as well but many of the others are Quartz movements (which I try to avoid).

  • How do you know this is a real tag?

      The price.

      • +3

Even a close to real 'fake' can retail this much.

    • I found references from other people that bought from them on the watchuseek boards.

Should start a new site for 'richies': OzTychoon

  • $300 to service at Tag… :(

Is it limited to one per person? Or can Broden roll his PS3 profits into some of these and load them up on Ebay?

    No International Orders
It will not even ship to Australia, tried and denied. Remove the listing please.

    • Is OP from US?
I wasted looking through some "$50" watches and the one I liked said
      Shipping:
      FREE Standard Shipping, $45 Overnight!
      No International Orders

      Yawn dumb post!

  • Does not post to Aus

Even if it was going at $1000… it's not a deal

unless you use a proxy service…

    • That's a rule? I've bought most of my best bargains using a mail forwarder in the US.

  • What exactly is a "real watch"?

Is it a device you (typically) wear on the wrist that accurately tells the time, plus other subsidiary functions?

Does a "$50 Chinese quartz watch" do this?

    • +2

apparently a 'real watch' is not really about being a watch but an excuse/reason for men to wear jewellery

  • site says:No International Orders

  • Wheres a sundial watch when you need one…

Ummm…no I'm pretty sure these guys are legit, just like ashford.com thewatchery.com gemnation.com watchclick.com dexclusive.com and many other grey market watch sellers. I've bought many watches over the net and I would buy from these guys (but I'm too much of a watch snob to buy a TAG)

      • thanks for other watch websites

      • Legitimacy aside, it comes down to- would ppl be willing to fork out that much on a Bargain website? [not offending, just saying thats all]

      • These guys are no where near ashford or thewatchery part of the known Luxi Group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashford.com.

Any store that doesn't declare who they really are and instead go on writing nonsense are dodgy imo. Could be anything from fakes, fell of the back of a truck, used or god knows what.

What's wrong with the free watch we received from COTD during the polo shirt promotion?

OK guys, I didnt realise that the seller had to ship to Australia, I buy loads of gear from overseas using mail forwarders (including watches). I saw this and thought it was a bargain but didnt check the rules regarding postage/shipping. Please excuse me, I will only post up australian domestic bargains from now on.

    • Sounds like you've got more watches than Imelda Marcos has shoes

    • Thanks for the post OP. Personally, it's good to know where the good deals are, even though I myself am not in the market for a watch. But maybe, say if I need to buy something fancy for the wife, knowing where to buy something like this is useful. So thanks, and keep posting!

One thing though, it strikes me as awfully risky to determine whether or not a watch is genuine, just because of a few forum posts. Posting rubbish reviews to make illegitimate stuff look legitimate, has gone from a cottage industry to an organized scam. So I'd be a bit wary, especially since this stuff is pretty expensive.

One more thing …. the idea of paying $50 for a chinese quartz watch is insane to me.

    Pffft $1581 for a watch?
My $50 watch tells the time just fine…

    • @OP, Keep posting and don't be offended…

Depending on one's position in life, one could be saying 150k on a Patek Philippe? My 15k Omega KEEPS time just fine.

      • Agree with kinros

While a cheapie can do the job fine telling the time. There's something else about owning a nice watch.

When you suit up, you suit up! Ties, cufflinks, tie bars, watches can make the difference between wearing a suit and suiting up.

A casio sports watch can make me cringe when worn with a suit…

        • A good reason to own 2 watches: a nice fancy dress watch for formal outings & an smart casual everyday watch.

        • Exactly what I'm aiming to do….. (currently I only have a half decent watch that does both duties lol, although sicne I'm now in FNQ I don't wear a watch much unless I want a "permanent one").
