Pokemon 8" Christmas Plush Toy $20 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass/ $65 Order) @ Kmart

970

I thought this was a pretty good deal. Though not sure others will feel the same. So thought I'd share and let the masses decide.

$20 each for Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander. However, if you buy online you get one at random, so probably better picking up in store.

For comparison, the same sized plush of the same quality (but minus a Santa hat) are otherwise $29.

Facts laid right out in the open… Won't invest in solar anymore. This renewable energy would be approved in certain countries, hope no animal rights activists prevent us from having this service available

Man, my AliExpress knockoffs look better than these for half the price. Obviously these have licensing fees, but they look pretty low quality and definitely nothing like those in the Pokemon centres in Japan (where they are priced in this range).

        • Yeah 100%. I was just in Japan and picked up a Christmas Psyduck plush from one of the Pokemon Centres, and the quality is leaps and bounds ahead of what these ones look like. I think it cost about 30 AUD.

          • @mboy: I dunno. I think you're being a bit pedantic. I was in Japan this year too and went to 5 different Pokemon centres (yes, yes, I know. I have a problem, I did other stuff too. Anyway…) and the toys were good, but I'm not gonna pretend everything looked hand-crafted good. Some looked better than others. But I have Japanese Pokemon Centre dolls sitting next to the ones I got from Kmart - and they fit right in.

That's interesting. Two days ago I saw them going for SGD 39 at Changi Pokemon store.

This or trying my luck on a skill tester for $2 a pop?

    • +3

Can get that number down a lot more by buying timezone dollars during double dollars deals with the $20 bonus coupon ($200 credit for $80) and paying using discounted gift cards

      • +2

        Wow. I'm in awe

  • I'm out of the loop. Can someone explain to this old fella how these differentiate from a $5 stuffed toy?

    • +1

Well, for starters, these are Gen 1 Pokemon shaped.

How big and soft/squishy is your hypothetical stuffed toy?

      • I saw this is 8" so I'm thinking of an 8" stuffed toy. Old school style. I don't know the squish. Can you describe for the clueless like me? Thank you. 🙂

        • +2

Honestly, it's all branding. Not sure how old school you are, but I'd say $10-$15 is often the norm for a toy like this made of premium materials. And by premium I mean, seam doesn't break, has a velvety sort of finish, they're produced consistently so they all look fairly the same.

However then you normally have the pokemon tax. It being officially licensed pokemon merch ups the price significantly. So if you just want a stuffed toy, it's not good value. But if you specifically want a stuffed pokemon toy - maybe it is.

There are knock off pokemon plush as well. And I've bought some of them over the years. But quality varies a lot. Sometimes it's really good and you'd barely notice the difference. Sometimes it's really bad.

So I guess also with the pokemon brand comes some reliability that you're buying something decent.

Is that worth $20? No idea.

I'll be honest, this deal seems to be more popular than I thought it was going to be when I posted it.

          • +1

@Lockdude: And this pikachu actually looks friendly and decent.

Most knock off pikachu plush have the looks that is fit for purpose for halloween.

            • @bazinga8888: Maybe they're just modelled off fat Pikachu from Season 1

@Lockdude: "I'll be honest, this deal seems to be more popular than I thought it was going to be when I posted it."

yeah I think so too. but Pokemon tax makes it a better deal at least if it's official license product. it's cheaper than Pusheen stuff I saw at JB. they wanted $20+ for something that was tiny.

Hear me out… Charmander is the best starter to pick.

    • +1

Provides a greater challenge early on in a game that is honestly too easy.

  • Is 8 inches enough?

    • What she said?

    • Depends on the girth of these Pokemon plushies.

    • Depends on the hardness/softness of these POKEmon plushies.

Best xmas gift for the bikies that are often mentioned in the comment section of Ozbargain.
