  • Still spewing i missed this, stock was out despite checking every 5 min for hours on the day. Did someone find out if they were going to run the same price again in the future?

    • I was thinking similar but after seeing how many people have dodgy units maybe missing out was a good thing.

    • +2

Yes, I asked them if they had plans to do the deal again and they said: "A specific time period cannot be guaranteed at the moment"
Which is kind of neither yes nor no but a solid 'maybe'

  • +2

It's a shame about the faulty units - these seem to have great reviews online and on YouTube. I had a black unit which worked really well but the fan was really loud when you were charging or using the inverter. You can switch it to mute mode which helps, but it's still loud.
These beige units are almost silent by comparison. I bought two which fortunately haven't had any charging or errors (I've tested mains, solar, etc). The only thing which is finicky is the top wireless QI charger - which seems to struggle to work with phone cases.
For $199 I don't think there's anything else that compares to these.

  • Was charging up the unit to 100%, was doing a trickle from 99% to 100% and it gave me a few beeps and spat out the E207 code.

Running it down to 0% and will give it another charge cycle.

    • Sorry to hear that - I am now incrementally even more worried about my one. Looks like VTOMAN, Bluetti etc are more reliable.
Does anyone know the actual meaning of code E207?

      • I ran it flat and charged it back up to 100% with no issues.

Will give it a few more cycles and see if I get the E207 again.

        • If it has happened once, given that so many others have had the same code, I would think it will continue to happen.
Not necessarily every time but you need to be able to rely on these 100%

        • Does it run in UPS mode without generating that error?

  • +1

Is it possible the E207 error indicate the unstable AC charging power? Maybe try to charge it at another place to see if the error still pops?

    • I have emailed Henison - we will try to find the answer

  • 3 weeks and mine still hasn't arrived. Maybe I dodged a bullet?

  • +3

    UPDATE: It finally arrived.

In review for those that missed out and are considering if to get one if / when they come down that cheap again.

    1. The unit is amazingly quiet. I've owned an Ecoflow River 2 Pro, Bluetti EB3A, Bluetti EB70, and an Allpowers S200… the R600 is definitely silent in comparison to all 4, even when charging at 315W off AC. I couldn't get the Ecoflow to not have fan noise even with the smallest amount of charge coming in. The EB70 with a silent AC adaptor (go and buy a 230 HP laptop charger and use that) still makes some noise when charging over 100w. The next quietest is the EB3A as it has a PWM fan, but that is audible when charging off AC whereas I can't hear the R600 at all. The S200 is only mildly noisy, but it doesn't really get any use.

    2. The usable capacity after conversion loss is about 250wh. 80% efficiency seems pretty standard for this capacity of unit. You get the conversion loss no matter which way you go (AC or DC out). It's enough to get about 8 hours from a CPAP if that's your reason for purchasing.

    3. I'm going to test with 2x 200w panels in series to see what rate it can charge at. I tried this briefly yesterday when the unit was at 88% charge and it only took in 130w no matter if there was one or both panels hooked up. I'm thinking I'll need to have it drained lower to get the 300w max input into it. Remember it won't draw more than 8.8A, but it can take up to 60v of input, so you'll need your panels in series. Don't go over the voltage because you will damage the unit. Going over the amps is fine because the unit will only pull in from the panels what it actually needs.

    4. I'm going to test the setup of this for my camping gear as an alternative to an AC inverter hooked up directly to an auxiliary 12v battery. 600w at 12v is 50A, and that's some thick cables that can be expensive to run over a distance. I've got a passive 12v to 24v 10A boost module on order and will look at hooking that up near the battery to get 24v 10A running to the R600. That way I've got just over 200w going in to it and the batteries in the R600 can deal with the extra draw for periods of time. It operates around that 600w rating very well, and I couldn't hear any fan noise over the sounds of my milk frother or coffee maker. FYI, you can just wire it straight to 12v and get a little over 100w of charge going in to it.

    5. Is it an alternate to just going with a 12v setup? Not really if the bulk of what you will be driving is 12v, because you'll be limited to 10A, or 120w of total power draw. Also, that 250wh usable probably won't keep your fridge going overnight.

    • Thank you for the review.
I am wondering if the E207 code may be heat related as many get it near charge termination and they have reduced the fan flow with V2 - but I still can't get get any confirmation from Allpowers.
If possible during your tests, would you charge it at full power?
I think they go up to 400w?

      • +1

I reckon the E207 code is related to heat. I got it today when trying to charge, the unit was at 88% and with 280w going in as per the screen before it stopped. Turni g it off and on again it resumed charging at 140w.

I did the test from 43% battery earlier today and my panels were able to provide 300w to the unit before i had to pack it away to head to a Christmas lunch.

Edit: I wonder if the E207 code is actually when it tries to lower the charge input and something doesn't let it step down the wattage? Maybe others can see what rate it charges at after their E207 code?

I notice the fans kick in when drawing over 300w from the unit, and you can barely hear them. The AC is on inside and I've been unable to hear the fans when charging.

      • +1

The fan being much quieter is why it overheats and errors out but if it errors out as soon as you try and charge it at standard or fast charge speed then it's something else.

I went from 19% to 82% at fast charge speed 400w+ then loud beeps and eventually stopped accepting charge with the error code I tried lowering back to standard charge speed but it beeped again and stopped charging.

So I left it for a couple hours and tried again at standard charge 300w+ it was behaving normally and continued to charge fully.

I have two other similar but more $ per Wh LifePO4 power stations and both fans are kinda loud/jet engine loud but they haven't overheated to the point where it will error and stop charging so there is a trade off between fan noise and faster charging speed.

      • +2

My first unit would E207 as soon as I plug it in, so it rules out heat or charge rate issues for that one.

My second unit E207'ed 3 separate times charging from ~60% to ~90%, so while this one might limp along and not throw the error every time it connects to AC, it does defeat the point of me trusting it as a UPS.

        • Can you try charging it at a different location or can you measure your house voltage?

    • Awesome thanks for the review. Kicking myself I missed it, I must of reloaded the Ebay page 1,000 times and missed the restocks every time.

Hopefully they will have another same price deal.

Just wanted to share this bargain that was briefly posted after midnight and then removed by mods as it didnt meet amazon posting guidlines

    $99 each for these powerstations Coofly A1000S. 1021Wh , 1000watt . Ordered 3 and all delivered

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/109546/20240102_…

    • oh wow, was it ebay?

      • Amazon, they were $499 with $400 clip coupon.

    • Should have posted to the limited qty forum…

      • +1

        Was not me.
I saw the deal, ordered 3, came back to thank OP and post was removed by mods.

I doubt seller would have honored deal though if they had hundreds of orders

        • They were clearing stock (as all gone now) - so unlikely to have cancelled.

          • @bargainshooter: Nope. They are still selling on other channels.

We (the few buyers) got multiple requests from seller to cancel the orders, but we ignored it.

It was a genuine bargain and NOT a clearance

  • Another E207 here.

    • when did it happen, what percentage charging?

      • I've charged it up to 100% a few times - but now getting the E207.

        • When using it or charging?

          • @impoze: Got the E207 when charging

            • @Joda: Any idea what percentage it was up to?

              • @impoze: Had a few E207s and % has varied each time

  • How are people going about their returns: Just trust them via ebay messages or did you open a return request on them?
I have been speaking to them via eBay messages but they are dragging their feet and my return time window is shrinking

    • Still waiting. Remember to open a return request on Ebay. They sent me the return label via email and i sent it back but forgot to open an official one on eBay and now it's outside my window. Item was sent back with tracking. I hope they honor it.

      • Yes, I am right up to the return window and no label yet - I am wondering if they hope I will forget or something. Will definitely open a return on eBay as well, for back up. Their replies have been slow - one answer per day, for weeks now.

        • I think when you open a return on Ebay, there will be a return label automatically available for printing. At least for me there is. Very temped to get the refund instead of getting another unit.

          • @Tiredman: The reviews fr the black unit that they offer as a replacement all seem quite positive - they do all mention much louder fan noise though.
That wont bother me too much. This device has pretty much all the good points you would want from one of these types of devices covered.
It is just the E207 issue with the beige unit

  • Has anyone actually received a replacement unit yet?
I opened an eBay dispute but the asked me to close it before sending…

    • Yes, I received a replacement which was also faulty. Same E207 error which would occur randomly, sometimes when charging towards the end of the charge cycle and sometimes when discharging. Currently waiting on my third to arrive.

      • So you went for another beige one? They also offered me the black unit which is supposedly free of the E207 issue

        • Yes, I have a bigger unit, the VoltX 1500 which is awesome but has very loud fan noise. I specifically wanted this beige model because of the quiet fans and UPS function as I intend to use it with my CPAP machine. I will persist with replacements until I get a fully functional unit.

        • The black is an older model. The beige is V2, quieter fans and a few other minor changes. Slightly lower voltage on solar charging on the beige which didn't concern me. They also offered me the black but I'm standing my ground on the beige. It's what I paid for.

          • @aldroid: Right, I chose black because I really think the E207 is inherent to the beige unit and i don't think they even know what the issue is. I will just put up with the louder fans

            • +1

@King Tightarse: I hate to burst your bubble but it's known to occur in the black as well:
              https://www.reddit.com/r/allpowerssolar/s/eLK5lVQITX

              • @aldroid: Oh dear. Looks like Allpowers staff bullshitted to me. First time I had seen that with a black unit

              • @aldroid: I wonder if it's thermal related since the black unit doesn't error as much and has stronger fans. Do you still have your unit? If so try sticking it in front of your aircon and if possible point a desk fan at it so it has extremely cold air flowing through and around it and see if the error still happens.

                • @LowRange: Good idea except I don't have aircon haha.

                  • @aldroid: Maybe just on a cool day, in a cool part of the house and have your fan ripping through it so there's a ton of airflow.

When the error happens intermittently there seems to be a factor that contributes to it, whether it be thermal, voltage (too high, low or unstable), or something else. So being able to eliminate things one by one will maybe help narrow it down.

                    • +1

@LowRange: It doesn't appear to be heat related. The unit has been switched off for several days so there is no residual heat in the unit. When I turn it on it immediately errors.

                      • @aldroid: Ahh ok, thanks for checking. It at least rules out one potential cause.

      • Found I was able to replicate on 2 x beige units by plugging in any solar and then going to a mains to charge. Shame would have been a great unit. Got a refund … just not worth the issues.

        • through ebay or direct?

          • @impoze: Direct via ebay - on purchased screen selected Requested return to sender. Received the prepaid label both times and the refund after returning the second one. Aussie post was the only people making money out of this…

    • Just received a replacement unit. Same error message again! Just going get a refund this time and grab a Bluetti EB3A.

      • Beige or black?

        • +1

          Beige.

      • Did you use the solar input at all?

        • Not yet as i don't have solar panels at the moment.

        • I don't think it really matters. I have had 2 faulty beige units. Both error with the E207 code at random times. Sometimes during charge (typically toward the end of the charge cycle), during discharge (totally random) and when using UPS feature (also totally random).
