Got it on Blu Ray and couldn’t watch the rest of it…😴

  • +12

Another Disney crap. The other ones are Marvel studios craps.
Rotten tomatoes scores = OZB scores => Ignore both.

    • +1

Wasn’t there one recently call Ed the African queen or something similar getting 100% on rotten tomatoes.

  • +2

Wow. So I felt like googling what the Disney+ international libraries are like. Turns out Australia has the largest Disney+ movie library out of all countries. We just lack a lot of tv shows.

UK has the biggest tv show library.

  • The first one was pretty good if you were prepared to look past the story problem.

  • +9

Disney, the mob that praises Chinese concentration camp, sexualises children.and promotes woke junk.. yeah no thanks, even I have my limits.

    • +3

What Disney content is sexualising children?

      • +4

        Fair question….
        https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2023/01/18/human-traf…

South Park covered this quite well in the past.

Here is a visual of all the companies owned by Disney, streaming is just one aspect
        https://www.titlemax.com/wp-content/uploads/every-company-di…

        • So Balenciaga is owned by Disney and they did a child BDSM photoshoot?

        • +5

So your map of Disney companies ahows they've got interests ~100+ companies..one of those did a bloody stupid & I'd say vulgar & distasteful thing in the name of promotion and that makes Disney guilty of "sexualises children"? That's like St Kilda FC endorses rape, because one of their players or employees has been accused of it. It's a bit of a stretch.

          • +3

@M00Cow: That’s just one example of many. Plenty more..go and do some legwork. Hint watch the latest Thor movie love and thunder..

            • +3

@Be careful: I’m googling child sexualising in the Thor movie but can’t find any results. Are you just referring to the general sexual and LGBT references? Because that seems to be a fairly accurate depiction of Norse mythology.

              • +3

@SlappersOnly: I never mentioned child sexualisation. Watch the movie yourself rather than using google and have a lot at the tsunami of woke propaganda.

            • +4

              @Be careful:

watch the latest Thor movie love and thunder..

Nope, 90% of Disney stuff IMHO is crap, notably their superhero stuff. Butt you know what, rather then campaigning against it by regurgitating conspiratorial crap I've found on the internet, I just don't watch them and enjoy my life.

So please tell me how you've watched it and discover something that the world needs to know. What would that be?

          • +4

@M00Cow: Ok. I googled it to confirm and that link now makes no sense. The article has nothing to do with Disney. Balenciaga isn’t linked with Disney, the article was using Disney as a name drop for the title and end of the article.

            • @SlappersOnly: Right, but r/disneyconspiracy says it's true! And like a good brainwashed religious zealot i just believe and regurgitate. Because our leader has given me the secret information that the ignorant masses don't know of and I shall look down at the masses from up high and mock their ignorance.

            • +1

@SlappersOnly: Keri g company owns Valencia. I suspect the whole event was just to troll right wingers and it succeeeded

        • +2

South Park covered this quite well in the past.

I also get factual information about sensitive topics from two guys with a cartoon who previously claimed climate change wasn't real and then took 12 years to admit they were wrong /s

  • +2

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) still saving the world? Isn’t he like a grandpa now - no offense 😅

    • +2

So is that other guy who has a special set of skills, and will find you and kill you

    • +4

He’s a great grandpa. But he still goes pretty good in the movie.

    • +1

Spoiler alert again, but If Indy didn't do anything at all, if he sat in his apartment in his underwear watching TV for the whole movie, it would have ended the same way. Though I guess Archimedes would have kept the 2,000 year old dial that Mads Mikkleson brought back to him and not made one of his own, then again what difference would that have made.

    • Agist

    • That was made evidently clear in the film

  • I enjoyed it. Better than the last one I can't even remember the title.

  • +2

Harrison Ford nailed old man Indy

  • +2

Watching it now. Much better than the alien one.

    • Compared to that trash - it was out of this world good

  • +3

    SPOILER ALERT

I actually wished they ended the movie with Indy being stuck there. It would have been a great sending off for his character.

    • +1

Spoiler alert ay, but getting back together with Marion was better.

  • +1

This movie really didn't deserve the hate it got. I loved it! Nice and fun.

    • Is there still much hate? I understood the negativity based on Disneys recent films and the alien indi- but that we before people watched it.

So people still hate it this much after seeing the film?

      • Yeah, people had a weird hate for the female character and felt the third act was silly. I mean, it's an Indiana Jones movie!!!

        • +1

There has been a lot of Mary Sue'ing going around in films. So I understand why people are sceptical and usually am the first to cry 'woke' when it is. I just think this film wasn't 'woke' like a lot of people claimed it to be.

  • +5

People calling Disney "woke" and saying they pander to the left when the bigger picture is that they're ruthlessly capitalistic and this goes beyond the scope of identity politics and sides. You guys are getting angry over the wrong thing.

but if you're offended by this sort of thing then I guess you are literally too stupid to consider any alternatives than your self-victimizing narratives.

    • +1

      What was ”woke” about DoD?

      • +9

I don't know you'll have to ask the OzB alt-right brigade about what's gotten them upset this time

        • +6

The replies on this are pretty shocking to me. Must be all the people who post that anti-vax stuff brigading on this. Nothing better to do I suppose.

You can tell they haven’t watched the movie.

        • +1

reeee I'm threatened by that capable female character

I mean Indy could meet Amelia fricken Earhart and they'd be all "hurr girls can't fly planes"

WW2 female Russian snipers "durrr woke agenda"

Valentina Tereshkova "ackshually women can't handle the g-forces of a space launch"

If it was 1981 again they'd be complaining about Sallah ("token Muslim character shoved down my throat political correctness gone mad")

If it was 1984 they'd be complaining about Short Round ("ugh token Asian child who can drive without any training what is he Force sensitive or something")

      • +7

        What was ”woke” about DoD?

They put a chick in it and made her lame and gay ;)
(not my words - southpark episode)

        • The god daughter? Or the cia agent?

          • @AustriaBargain: God daughter is fiance of the rich dude who's chasing them, so it's not the female lead. Nothing about the CIA agent mentions her sexuality.

This movie may not have been great, and Disney may have done some eye rollingly clumsy "DEI" content lately, but DoD isn't one of them. It's true that the female lead doesn't look like Kate Capshaw or Alison Doody, but if they cast a bombshell, it would just make Ford look even older.

      • Wouldn't call it woke - who is saying it's woke? I know people suspected it may turn out to be woke - but it wast really.

Are reviewers still calling it woke after seeing it?

    • +4

LOL ruthlessly capitalistic when they have lost $750m from there bombs that were DEI/ESG driven this year alone ;)

Please inform us of how introducing 5-10 year olds to gay kisses in things like "Lightyear" is NOT sexualising children :/

Guessing you are completely childless, and have no idea why parents don't like the current Disney stuff ;)

But yes, I am so stupid, I will happily let Disney sexualise my children as this must be a self-victimizing narrative…

      • +1

To be fair, 97% of female astronauts are gay irl.

      • +4

It’s amazing how becoming apparent makes one focus on their safety while all societies free riders who do t breed couldn’t care less. All of a sudden ‘let them all in’ doesn’t sound like such a good idea when kids nearby get stabbed etc

      • +3

Dude, seriously, can you stop talking about sexualising children in the Disney post please? Some children read this and you sound like an absolute freak.

      • +2

Please inform us of how introducing 5-10 year olds to gay kisses in things like "Lightyear" is NOT sexualising children :/

If by "sexualising" you mean "lettings kids know there are gay people and that's fine" then I'm fine with it

If by "sexualising" you mean something about having sex with children then that's your head canon mate

        Get help

      • Let me guess, if straight characters kiss you have no problem with it?

    • +3

Yes they want to make $$$$ but they also want to heavily push their agenda. I wonder how many billions Disney lose before they learn the lesson

      • +3

        • +1

Yes, they have been slowly recovering after co-vid shut down most of their revenue streams. Worth noting a big chunk of their revenue above is not movie related.

        • +4

How's their share price looking? Down more than 50% since 2021.
Bob Iger is the master of BS. 2023 is the worst performing year film / box office wise for Disney possibly ever. They've lost hundreds of millions when considering what was forecasted.
If you think it's not hurting, Iger has downsized or completely stopped many projects they had planned. This very Indy film was planned to have sequels but the bomb it became changed that. Even Phoebe Waller-Bridge who they thought would be made a star, Disney has turned their back on her completely, as has much of Hollywood. Why? She was a major part of its failure, no one wants to cast her in a big budget film through fear of her being attached to it.
Disney are destroying franchises and not listening to fans, 'we know better' is their mantra. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is their number one policy, their material is garbage.

          • +2

@FXx: Is it really a surprise that a company that sells face to face experience and holidays took a hit post 2021. It's parks were closed, theatres were closed and cruise ships were docked. Qantas shares are down in that period too, I wonder what might have cause such a thing.

            • @tonka: No, no, it's because they had a movie where a gay person was treated like a normal human.

        • I looked at your link and the numbers are different - they are down. The last year was really bad, but you have them increasing profits. Am I missing something?

          Actual linked data:

Disney gross profit for the quarter ending September 30, 2023 was $2.083B, a 68.4% decline year-over-year.
Disney gross profit for the twelve months ending September 30, 2023 was $24.267B, a 14.31% decline year-over-year.
Disney annual gross profit for 2023 was $8.992B, a 68.25% decline from 2022.
Disney annual gross profit for 2022 was $28.321B, a 27.07% increase from 2021.
Disney annual gross profit for 2021 was $22.287B, a 3.62% increase from 2020.

          What you posted:

Disney gross profit for the twelve months ending September 30, 2023 was $29.697B, a 4.86% increase year-over-year.

          • @rokufan: I can't see how that works, wouldn't their FY23 end in December so 2023 data can't be included to maintain a direct comparison against yearly totals.

            • +1

@tonka: American fiscal years end in September

      • +1

Yes look at all the billions they've lost this year

        oh wait they're going up

        again

        like last year

        and the year before

        and the year before that

it's almost like you're the one who's grossly out of touch

    • +3

Disney literally uses the Pander stone to make their movies that's why all their new leads are lame and gay racially ambiguous females who not even real lame gay racially ambiguous females could relate too because they are portrayed so obnoxiously in these films they develop 2nd hand embarrassment that they may be perceived similarly.

  • +1

Count how many times Harrison says “I hate nazis”….almost as if a certain group that doesn’t like them is pushing an agenda lol

    • +7

      You like Nazis bruh?

      • +1

        I think he's/she's being sarcastic :-)

If not - then God help us

      • I have noticed a lot of Hamas supporters around.

    • TIL "normal people everywhere" is a group with an agenda

  • Hmm I went to watch this at 6pm Friday 1st. But it was just in the “coming soon’ section of Disney.

I canceled my Disney plus subscription yesterday in protest against Bob Iger’s part in the campaign to destroy Twitter.

Make no mistake - the only reason why the Voice referendum was defeated was because everyday Australians were able to express their freedom of speech on Twitter, which inoculated the population against a gaslighting campaign by the government and every single big corporation to think that Voting Yes was the “right” thing to do.

The forces of high finance and big capital in global society who oppose the rights of the common working man and the middle-classes realise that unless they destroy Twitter quickly now, there is a very real chance that their puppet Biden will be defeated by a popular nationalist who champions the interests of the little guys.

So they are going all out now to destroy Twitter - to seize our freedom of speech - and I won’t have any part of that. If you have any concern at all about the destruction of the middle and working class and the dispossession of the ownership of the land that our brave and adventurous fore-fathers bequeathed to us as our birthright then I encourage you to cancel Disney plus too. Thank you.

    • +6

… wait, there are actually people legitimately defending twitter? Now I really HAVE seen it all

      • +6

Yes. What have you got against the idea of little guys having freedom of speech?

        • +7
        • +2

"Little guys" = literal Nazis and billionaires

I imagine you like to rant about freedom, what about Disney's freedom not to spend money with a particular private organisation?

        • +2

          Simping for billionaires.

      • +8

Im pretty sure the post you're replying to is an AI that was fed an almalgamation of conspiracy crank info and let loose. It hit all the high notes.

    • +2

Not giving money to advertise is not the same as trying to destroy something. Musk made anti-Semitic tweet and now faces the consequences of it, he even said it was his "literally the worst and dumbest post". It is a shame so many like you want people to avoid consequences of their actions. Since Twitter is such a great platform, I'm sure Twitter can get its funding from other people.

  • +3

Easily the worst Indy movie of all

    • +1

Agreed, assuming you also don't count the kingdom of the Crystal Skull as ever actually existing :)

    • No way, crystal skull was worse. Crystal skull wasn't even bad as far as movies go, it was just the worst/most generic Indy movie.

  • Amazing how they did Jones young at the start. Would have like a whole movie like that.

    • Agree

    • Young Mads was pretty impressive too. Makes me wonder if Ford should let his estate use his voice and face for Indy movies after he dies. Charge his usual acting fee per movie for the honour and donate it to charity or split it between his five kids. 100 years after he dies teenagers will be using AI to make more Ford Indy movies for free anyway, his family may as well make money off it today.

  • +1

Really struggled through this movie. Had to fast forward alot of boring talking parts. Like Mission Impossible, it is getting tired and old. They both lost money, so let's hope it's the last of it. Comparing them to the movie The Creator. Night and Day. At least The Creator has something different and the CGI was top notch.

    • I was disappointed with the Creator. I thought it was going to be some kind of cyberpunk movie ala Blade Runner but was your generic “rebels vs the evil government where former government agent switches sides”

      • yup, pocahontas -> avatar -> the creator, etc.

    • I thought the creator was a bit boring to be honest. But terrible just a bit slow in parts

  • Is it any good? I've heard mixed things about it but the trailer looks good. Do we need to watch all the previous movies before we watch this one?

    • You should watch the old ones and not the new ones

  • Quite an interesting movie should I say, as they use the deepfake tech to recreate young Harrison ford

Technology has been fast moving thing for sure, reminds me the old banana nokia style in the 90s

    • +1

The deep fake tech was very good, but for some reason they forgot to fake his voice. 80 year old voice in the body of a 35 year old just looked weird.

      • not only the voice. did the acting look right? so much criticism for the Irishman because deniro looked like he was young but moved and beatup that guy on the street like an old man.

  • +5

One more reason to cancel Disney+

  • Indy is a washed up alcoholic drinking whiskey at 8am in this movie.

    • He's was depressed. Dead son, dead end and then no job…..

      • The kids in his class didn't do any of his readings. A big difference to all the young girls hanging on his every word in class in earlier movies.

  • +1

    Raiders=Last Crusade>Temple>>>Dial Destiny>>Crystal skull

  • +2

Possibly the worst movie of the year. Awful story, writing, effects. No wonder Spielberg ran off

    • "No wonder Spielberg ran off"

oh it's not directed by Spielbergs? I thought every indy movie was directed by him.. well crystal skull was.
Dial is directed by James Mangold, says here he did Ford vs Ferrari I watched it that wasn't bad.
