Splitwise Gone Rouge! Limiting to 3 Transactions Daily with Unskippable Ads!

First time posting here, please be kind :)

For anyone using splitwise to split the bill with mates, does this new update annoy you? Right now after 2 new expenses the app will prompt you to buy the pro subscription with a 10 sec ad…. Don' think i can justify paying $40 a year for this.

I would find sometimes to be hard not to hit 3 expenses still, even if we put in expenses daily (ie, lunch then woolies then fuel + whatever you pay for the day).

Any alternatives recommended that can replace splitwise? LMK thanks!

    PayID to the main person?

      I have unreliable friends who pay me after stacking up expenses for a week :(

      but yea the paying part will still be PayID, just the calculation part is hard with many transactions

    I know in the Up app, you can just 'slice' payments to split the bill.

    Check if your bank offers something similar.

      the slice payments thing actually works really well…assuming your friends have the app too…which most of my friends do not :(

        I used to have UP but closed my accounts when their rates no longer became competitive. And its not easy to make people open a bank account rather than an app

    Split your part of the bill off and only pay that at the time of the transaction. Let them figure the rest out for themselves.

      That's a recipe for disaster especially if there are people who are unreliable in the mix.

      if they have your payment details and the rest dip, then are stuck footing the whole bill.

    Beem has a groups function for splitting bills and settling up every so often, and payment happens through the app (using a saved debit card) so it's very easy.

    Splitwise is getting absolutely trashed in Google Play reviews. I've been checking every week or so since they updated and they went from around 4 stars to 2.3 in a very short time. The 1 star reviews now almost double their 5 star reviews from the last 10 years or however long they've been around.

    Me and my partner had been using it for shared expenses for years now and were fuming about the new ridiculous limit. Moved to Settle Up. Only thing it lacks is recurring expenses and the ads are a bit annoying but the UI is nice and clean.

    Along with Beem, I find Splid to be quite useful, especially when travelling overseas. You can record it in that country's currency and it automatically converts it back to Australian dollars based on the exchange rate of the day when it comes to settle the payments between friends. Also no ads and works offline
