FEATURES: A REVELUTIONARY TRIPLE -BLADE SHAVING SYSTEM

    Only 3 blades ? This is 2012…

I don't see what is so revOlutionary about 3 blades

    • I know right? It's like labelling a loaf of bread with:
FEATURES: SLICED BY A REVOLUTIONARY SLICING MACHINE

    • It comes with all the DLC, that's what!

  • What's revolutionary is that I bought 500 razor blades for $30. That with a nice Merker safety razor gives a much better shave than this Gillette crap.

Link please? as gloating about the bargain you got is not helpful for us. Help others to get same shave and years of shavers as you did :-)

      • You can buy about 500 Derbys for $30, Amazon sell Derby's by the hundered, and some DE blades are even less.

Interesting to see the Mach 3 is made in the USA, oz stock is normally made in Germany.

      • Thanks japik :)

I got the razor from here: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/284046.htm

As for blades, eBay sells Derbys by 50x 100x, but as Crownanchor said, Amazon seems to be cheaper.

For blades, it did take me a little time to find ones I liked, depending on the person Derbys may not be as good as others. The ones that come with the Merkur are pretty crap lol

    • Yup, brand/model and link or it didn't happen. I can't think of any DE blades that are that cheap shipped. On the other hand I still have about 200 blades left - mainly Feather platinum :)

    • No it doesnt. I too went to the Merker razor and I wanted to believe it was better as I didn't want to pay so much for blades anymore but in addition to taking longer to shave it does not offer a closer shave and in fact I had to go over my face several times to get it done.

At the end of the day, its 1 razor and it misses a lot of hair, it's never going to beat 3 razors.

If you want the "im cool" look and have plenty of time in the mornings to shave, then go with the Merker, I prefer quick efficient shaves and therefore went back to Mach 3's.

      • Merkur is definitely better value. As for whether it does a better shave does depend on what blades you go for ;)

In the end, go for what works for you if you don't have time to look around

        • Its not just the blades, the razor can also make a difference. I recently got a Merkur Futur which is adjustable, and blades that did not work well in another razor, worked very well in the Futur.

Ive also found that Derby blades can last 6 weeks and are still very sharp one the fifth week.

"advanced indicator lubricating strip has a blue stripe that fades away when you are no longer getting the optimal Mach 3 shaving experience"

I use up that lubricating strip after a whole body shave in the shower :0

I just use a razor strop and some old jeans for sharpening.
