P7 has the worst fingerprint scanner I've ever used. I personally wouldn't recommend to anyone. Just be aware of that.
My P7P is almost flawless, it's rare I have to go back for a second attempt.

I had a similar issue, I use a screen protector on my phone.
I resolved the problem by registering my thumb multiple times.
For those pixel users (P6, P7 & P8 series) if all fails try this method.
