The Victorian Government is pleased to provide Victorian Seniors Card holders with free public transport during the 2012 Victorian Seniors Festival.
Eight days for metropolitan/regional (7-14 OCT)
Five days for V/Line services (9-14 OCT)

Senior Card holder may already be well aware of this.. But just in case.. Tell your Parents/Grandparents.. ^_^

  it's always free during seniors week…

  you need a Seniors card…

  what's not clear is if you still need to use a Myki but don't get charged ???

    It's in the Travel Tips, so if you have a myki then you "must" touch on and off..
    "Victorian Seniors Card holders must carry their Victorian Seniors Card with them at all times during the Victorian Seniors Festival. Seniors travelling on a seniors myki must touch on and off, even during the free travel period, but they will not be charged"

      but they will not be charged

      • so first they have to pay to get a myki
      • second, i don't exactly trust myki not to charge for the free trips

        hmm.. it says "Seniors travelling on a seniors myki must touch on and off".. so if you don't have a myki.. then no need to worry? ;-)

        until the ticket inspectors rugby tackle you for travelling without a ticket, then you worry…

        so how would they know who has or hasn't a myki if it was optional ???

        Seniors get issued senior cards for free and it is then used by touching on and off to validate that they are seniors and can then use public transport for free during that period.

  Should be free all the time!
