Woolworths Delivery Left My Groceries out in The Open

I tried Woolworth delivery for the first time, it was with the Uber partner delivery and they left my groceries out on the pavement where everyone can walk past and easily access it. Fortunately, I was at home when they dropped it off. I have also explicitly put that they cannot leave it unattended I have to receive it. Has anyone else experienced this before? I feel like trying the delivery by Woolworths themselves next time and see what happens.

I have also explicitly put that they cannot leave it unattended

What would they do with it if you aren't there?

I’ve had this happen once in about 20 Woolworths deliveries via Uber. Not ideal, but also not a big drama. Given that you get alerts as to when they drop it off etc I’d also expect some personal responsibility to look out for it. Uber style deliveries are not really designed for you not to be home. Woolworths delivery is an entirely different
process and is booked in advance and you can give drop off instructions.

Didn’t they ring your door bell? Frankly I just prefer to go get groceries myself. Particularly if I’m getting fruit and veggies.

When these delivery services started the quality of the fruits and vegetables was great. They obviously picked the best because they wanted you to use the service

      Now they're crap

Yeah I definitely feel like they are getting rid of the lower end fruit and vegetables when it comes to having them them pick and pack for you. Stuff that may have even been removed from store display as being unsaleable, hard to say for sure though. Often get limp looking bunches of stuff, especially radishes etc, and when you go instore the items look a lot better condition.

        • it makes sense when you think about it.

Looking at a said piece of raddish in the store, no one will buy that. but the chances that they can pawn it off to someone who did an online order and they won't complain is higher than that as a chance, so they do it.

I've stopped using woolies/coles for fresh veggies and stuff for this reason.

          • @coffeeinmyveins: Yeah … the limp radish bunches are particularly annoying for me as I actually like to use the leaves as well.

  • Lol, uber is finally in the black and now you know!

  • Doesn't uber notify you when they are getting close, why wouldn't you meet him at the door ?

  • I have also explicitly put that they cannot leave it unattended I have to receive it.

First time getting a delivery I take it?

“ I have also explicitly put that they cannot leave it unattended I have to receive it.”

lol. What are the terms and conditions you agreed to when placing the order with a partner driver?

  • Coles have also done this once or twice but now they are good I just leave the door slightly open on day of delivery and they bring it in every time.

Helps that my area is a pretty nice and safe neighbourhood so no chance of wrongdoing.

That wasn't Woolworths, that was Uber that left it out. This is what you get when you use a pay peanuts service from Uber.

  • I've never had that happen before with my Woolworths deliveries, but I've also never had Uber deliver my Woolworths groceries before.

  • Ahh ok, I'll try out the non-Uber option the next time. Thanks!

  • Don't use the partner delivery options. They can't find my address! Use Woolies delivery service instead.

Why would anyone need grocery delivery is beyond me.
5 years ago, even 15 years ago everything was fine when grocery deliveries was non existent.
Plan your week. Do grocery shopping yourself.

    • This is the most "old man yells at cloud" I've seen in a while and is so hypocritical.

you've posted in the past about car insurance so I assume you have a car.

100 years ago pretty much no-one had a car, and everything was fine. Plan your trip. Take your horse or walk!

Nobody wants to go grocery shopping. Nobody wakes up and goes "yay I get to drive to the shops with thousands of other people, get exposed to any manner of illness and walk up and down an aisle collecting food being marketed at with music and placement of products, and then pack it myself into my car and drive home!". It's called a modern convenience, one that you seem to take advantage of in other aspects of your life but seem to be blind to.

Actually, in the old days, you would go to the general store to shop and they would be delivered to your house. You could have recurrent orders like milk and bread deliveries in the morning.

      • And you would hand a list of items to the grocer and they would pick and pack them for you as they were all behind the counter.

        • Same, same but different. I, suspect, the original option was because people may not have had transport to get home so couldn’t carry all the groceries.

  • do not use partner delivery those drivers dont have trolleys ect and just dump it outside without even calling you

  • In my experience, do not use partner delivery. Use Woolworths own driver delivery.

You get an SMS just prior to your delivery and you can leave a note for the driver when checking out. As an example in my case, ''Please deliver to the rear house on the block and ring the doorbell".

The trucks are refrigerated and I think they have a separate freezer section. Never had a bad experience with them.

Coles is similar but you don't get an SMS prior to delivery, they just give you an estimated time on the day of the delivery. Usually something like ''Your delivery is expected to arrive between 4.25pm and 5.15pm'' etc. They do however send an an SMS when its been delivered.

Their trucks are also refrigerated but they use ice boxes for the frozen foods. You can also leave a not for the deliverydriverat checkout. Again, no bad experiences with Coles own delivery.
