Excluding P.O. Boxes on eBay

Hi all, looking to exclude shipping addresses with a P.O. Box on eBay, and having trouble finding the setting.

The articles I've seen online appear outdated - has anyone got a direct link, or has done this recently and can advise?

Thanks so much

EDIT: Why?
Because the specific courier I'm using doesn't deliver to PO Boxes :)

    Why?

in the postage section of the listing page - on the right hand side is "See postage options"
hit that and scroll to the "excluded locations" the last/5th option - and click/turn that on.
that will then create an "exluded locations" option on the potage section of the listing page- you then click on to that and scroll to the very bottom of the list (past geographical locations) and the last option is PO boxes

    • Thanks! Appreciate this

Not sure why sellers exclude PO Box/Parcel lockers. More secure for people living in an apartment.

The only reason I can think of is if they are using a service that doesn’t have Australia post as a sender option.

As a seller I much prefer when customer is using a P.O. Box.

Instead of dealing with lost/mis-delivered parcels etc

Most likely Sandle pricing but only to street address.

I get my parcels sent to PO box now, because the delivery drivers have issues navigating my driveway.

OP - as a seller? Why? So many times I've gone to buy something for it to tell me at the checkout that it won't do a PO box. Fine, I'll just buy it from the next dude even if it's a bit more.

      Same.
Stupid seller attitude to filter out sending items to a paying customer, who NEEDS to use PO box option.

I get the ones that use couriers, but the Asian dropshippers?

        • Straya is a big place. LOTS! of buyers rely on PO boxes, and I'd say there's less actual risk directly to sellers. The ONLY reason I can see why a few % sellers might prefer not to use PO boxes, because APost is so continually unreliable so repeat claims coming back to seller for lost items.

Go to your post office where your po box is located. You can pay a small amount to be able to have any deliveries sent to your po box regardless of delivery option. You use the locations street address and then suite no. (of your po box). Can't remember the name of the service or the cost but it's available.

  • Couriers can't deliver to a PO box. Only Auspost can.

Find a mate/business who has a Street Address that you can have the goods delivered to and pick up from.

    • I think you can get it delivered if you have an agreement with the PO staff, and sometimes you pay a local delivery feed to PO. Gets down to your relationship with the PO in question.

      • It's called P.O. box plus.

        • I thought it was Parcel Collect via the My Post registration?
          (Not Parcel Locker)

          • @Protractor: I don't think so. If you google it there is a whingepool thread about it and you can find the terms and conditions as well but not too much on the Aus post website.

From memory it's about $24 a year and you get 50 deliveries iirc.

Can only be private boxes and not businesses.

There are people (Like farmers) in regional and rural areas who do not have a street address. They use either a PO box or an RMB (Rural Mail Bag)

Also many of the cheap dodgy courier companies do not service rural and some regional addresses. Recipients will be asked to pickup from the local depot .. that can be several hours return trip away . In my case even living in a regional city the dodgy courier depots are at least a hours return trip from where I live and they are only open very limited hours that makes them impossible to access.

So by not having the option of delivering to PO boxes you exclude a lot of potential customers.

(I do have the extra Aus Post services to allow deliveries to my PO box, but even then some of the dodgy couriers object to that)

As a frequent ebay purchases when I see no PO boxes in delivery usually that is a redflag as so many dodgy sellers, like non Australian ones who pretend they are Australian use that setting

I personally wish there was a decent alternative to Australia post with a similar delivery network across Australia but there is not . Other courier companies just cherry pick only offerings decent services in metro areas at the expense of the rest of Australia.

People can get around this by a "Parcel Collect Address" which gets sent to the PO for collection, or if the buyer has a "PO Box Plus" account it will be sent to a "Suite" address (business/office) which its really their PO Box number. For example Suite 40, 274 Made Street, Suburb, 1111, which is PO Box 40, 274 Post Office Address, Suburb, 1111 (Post Code)

I do not like sellers that don't accept PO Box addresses so I just use the 2nd option, over I think 40 couriers it's available to.

    UGH
I live in a secure complex, our letterboxes only fit a letter in them. Parcels cannot be left [on the street]
For this reason, I use Aust Post parcel lockers, couriers leave a note and I have to traverse
the outer suburbs to find a hidden drop point. I buy from someone else…
