So just looking at a couple of deals and the sort, and I found this laptop - Acer Aspire 7 15.6-inch i5-12450H/16GB/512GB SSD/RTX2050 4GB Gaming Laptop on Harvey Norman. https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-aspire-7-15-6-inch-i5-1…
I don't know much about computers but it sounds pretty good, and I am planning on just playing some games I got for free on the Epic Games Store, League of Legends, and NDS/3DS emulators. I was looking for an upgrade from my current 2 GB RAM laptop, can't even run Chrome without the fans blasting.
But it's going for $798 so that's pretty low for 16GB RAM, 512 SSD, and a GPU right? Also, does this function well as a work/study laptop while I'm at it? Are Acers a reliable laptop?
Thanks.
It's definitely an upgrade from whatever 20 year old machine you're using, but a 4GB RTX 2050 isn't going to get you too far these days (it'll handle LoL and emulators fine but don't expect it to run newer games too well)
Does it have to be a laptop? You can get so much more value out of a desktop PC instead.
If it has to be a laptop, I'd suggest stretching your budget to ~$1K for at least a RTX 4050 laptop (ie. those Acer Nitro 5 posts that pop up on OzB every other month).
