Does Bunnings ever appear on a Gift Card that gets discounted during sales/promos etc?
Like the multi store cards gift cards for example?
Doesn't seem their own branded gift cards ever get discounted.
Would appreciate any insights.

only a small number of items are discounted and you miss out on the 5x flybuys, so you need to check item by item…

As you have figured out, it is highly unusual to find Bunnings gift cards on discount. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that Bunnings gives change (up to $9.95) when you redeem a Bunnings gift card.
In terms of where you should look at the moment:
Keep an eye out for Prezzee deals, as their multi-retailer gift cards contain Bunnings. Examples of two current deals include the Black Friday / Cyber Monday deal and the NAB deal (but you do not actually need to be an NAB customer to claim the NAB deal).
Gift Card Exchange (GCX) is currently selling nearly all the gift cards sold on their website at a 6% discount. The Bunnings gift card is listed as an exclusion (which means directly purchasing a Bunnings gift card will not be eligible for the discount), but if you buy the Exchange gift card, you can buy that at a 6% discount and then exchange that for a Bunnings gift card. This was confirmed by the OP. Fingers crossed your bank will let you make a purchase on GCX, because if your bank declines a transaction, you will use up one of the two permitted uses of the promo code on your GCX account.
