Hardwire Kit for Viofo A119 Mini 2 Dash Cam

I haven't used or installed a dash cam before but I recently ordered one through this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/812158. It has two additional purchase options listed for the hardwire kit on the product page.

  1. https://viofo.com/accessories/323-viofo-type-c-hk4-hardwire-…
  2. https://viofo.com/accessories/254-732-viofo-type-c-hk4-hardw…

Which of these should be ordered? The second option is cheaper but I am not sure which fuse type should be selected in that option. Apart from these, any other cheaper kit compatible with Viofo A119 Mini 2 dash cam? Thanks!

The first has a fuse tap. It’s used to piggyback the cable direct to a fuse lightning so you don’t need to cut and splice wires.

That you have to ask maybe means you don’t have the skills to instal it yourself. If you’re having someone install it for you, ask them amwhixh they’d prefer.

    • OP to local auto electrician….

OP - do you install dashcams?

      AE - Yes we do

      OP - amwhixh you prefer?

      AE - crickets

      OP - Call finished tone

    Fuses are generic.

You may also buy from VIOFO if you know the exact fuse type

    • So which one should I buy.. option 1 or 2? Thanks.

Option 2 if you know the fuse type of the car and buy the fuse separately. Or buy the Option 1 which includes all fuse types.

open the fuse box in you car and find out which type.

Have a look in your car's fuse panel (will be somewhere under/behind the dash, usually) and check which type of fuses your car uses.
This image shows you the physical differences - https://viofo.com/3299-large_default/viofo-type-c-hk4-hardwi…

Then you can buy the cheaper hardwire kit and select the correct fuses for your car. Otherwise, just buy the (slightly) more expensive hardwire kit knowing it comes with all fuse types, some of which you won't use and will throw out.

  • If you don't want to check your car directly, you can probably google what fuse type your car has. If you google how to hard-wire Viofo dashcam to <your car>, chances are someone might have a video or forum post about it and it might help you know which fuses to tap.

Eg I watched this video and the part 2 one and installed mine with no prior experience/knowledge. Took me all day though…YMMV…a professional will likely only take 1 or 2 hours max.

You will need a wire crimper and probably a voltage tester if you don't already have them.

Bold move doing automotive electrical work without any experience. Make sure your full comp insurance is valid.

    • I will get it done by my mechanic.
