    Stopped working, now throws "network error" every time I try to translate something.
    So I guess it uses internet connection for voice recognition and translation. Avoid using it when roaming.

      it's only a 3.5MB download so it definitely uses the internet. I'm surprised at how accurate it is. (edit: noticed that "speech is powered by Nuance" so it's not surprising that it works so well)

    I would rather get the google translate app. I think this app basically hooks into google translate and tries to make some money out of it.

    It's powered by Nuance, not Google Translate.
    However, for me, it doesn't work at all. No translation from/to any language. Not even a "Hello".

    The app works better than expected, but as others have said, you need internet for it to work. It can take a while to get the translation/speech back to you though.

    Also, one of the language options is labelled Cantonese Chinese, but it's actually Chinese Mandarin.
