How terrible will the delonghi stilosa actually be? It looks to have a proper milk wand rather than a panarello? As the only coffee drinker in the house, so won't be making back to backs, just a couple of caps a day, is this a step up from a pod (with decent brand), or just a toy? Not expecting Gaggia results but reasonable would be nice. Anyone have a stilosa that can comment?
I don't have a Stilosa but I like Coffee and I have been around and inside enough machines at this price point to offer some advice.
I worked for a company that handled logistics for Delonghi including its returns, and a lot of stuff got returned. Like alot. Delonghi does make some decent stuff at the high end but like Smeg its one of those companies that anything not at that level is not great.
If you were going to replace a pod machine with this one you'd need to have a decent grinder somewhere otherwise there is no point.
At this price point there is no machine that is any good, sorry. My honest advice would be to buy an aeropress, a decent milk frother and order small packages of decent coffee ground fresh if you want to try something other than a pod.
Thanks. I use a Breville SGP and aeropress, and I also use podstar stainless steel pods with fresh beans (currently brightside offer from here). I tried one of the delonghi bean to cup machines but the grinder jammed in a week and requires taking the thing apart to fix so shockingly badly designed. Maybe a basic used Gaggia classic will be the way to go. Was thinking of a Breville barista express but kitchen real estate is a premium!
I have a Bambino plus paired with a SGP, it's magic. I haven't found a need to go higher than that particular if you make milk based coffee it's auto frother is spot on.
I bought the sunbeam compact barista machine when it was around $160 last Christmas and whilst it sure beats moccona I still find myself struggling to figure out how to make something on say the soul origin level of good quality.
Is this coffee machine better than the Sunbeam Compact Barista Espresso Machine?
I'm considering https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/sunbeam-mini-bar….
Is that the same?
$249 on eBay (with plus and $20 off) or Amazon
Not a bad unit, if pair with a Breville SGP or Sunbeam EM0440 (with Washer Mod
