  • Thanks for posting. I tried to buy this last time but my order was silent rejected and refunded after it was accepted. I didn't realise why Diablo II wouldn't start when I installed it, and it took Blizzard support over a week to respond, after which time the sale had ended so I couldn't reattempt purchase (talking with them was like pulling out teeth, such a horrible customer experience). I might give this another try, but I don't really want to reward such a shitty company with my money.

    • yeah blizzard customer service is absolute garbage these days. They false banned my account, rejected the appeal due to "evidence" and then overturned the ban saying it was a mistake later on. They offered no compensation until I chased them up on it and even that was minimum 3 days game time for a 10+ year long customer.

Please don't. So many better games out there from good companies.

      • for example

Path of Exile scratches the Diablo itch for a lot of people, and it's free too which is a bonus.

@NedStark102: When PoE2 is finally released, I won't be getting off my chair for a week :/

I still like DII the best. Maybe its just me, DIII and DIV seem overly complex to be fun.
DII was easy, skills tree, weapons and gear. The others have too may variants.

Or I'm just showing my age…..

I think D2 was a bit harder to be honest

All the newer ones have auto pathing and quest indicators as opposed to running around blind not knowing where to go.

      • True, it wasnt easy. But not as complex - IMO anyways.

I fondly remember the 'trainer' hacks when playing local. Just bump the character up to some insane stats, give them the best armour and kill Diablo in on punch:-D

Or open all the way-points and worlds but keep the character standard. And then try different works at different character levels, and mostly get slaughtered.

        PS
Yes, I did complete it proper too.

      • Agreed - D3 gives you every skill if you reach X level (then you can just pick which ones you want to use) whereas D2 you had prerequisites, synergistic skills, and actually had to think about your build as you progressed through the game. I much prefer the latter approach.

      I still play D2R and also D3 and D4.
When the new season starts, I play them each until I get bored.
For D2R I still spend "cash" to buy Runes or Items while not spending any extra on D4.
I still find D2 is the best ARPG on the market

    • I agree - looking forward to having a go of resurrected tomorrow

I heard you can drop in your old character files (if you still have them somewhere). I'll have to go digging

  • Worth spending actual money on a proper copy of D2R? My 'high seas' edition is fully functional, but unfortunately can't get any newer patches etc (and obviously not online - not a huge deal).

    • If guess it depends on how often you play it? And if you play DIII, then it may be worth it given its included in the deal.

      • Already bought D3 a while ago, but I did see D2R standalone was on sale for ~$22 so I was considering that

        • I am thinking to do the same. Last time I played DII was around 22yrs ago.
