EARC Audio Extractor

Can anyone recommend an earc audio extractor at a reasonable price point? I know this one is the supposedly the bench mark, but I’m looking for something a little less pricey -

  • What are you needs?

    Do you need HDMI 2.1?

Do you need HD Audio signals (eg. DTS-HD) or uncompressed LPCM? You'll need it to output audio as hdmi (and not coaxial or optical).

    • I gave up on earc and just use toslink now. Wasn't playing nice with certain apps.

  • My tv doesn’t not have earc, so I need this to allow full Dolby Atmos from my Apple TV to my Sonos Arc.

    • I'm not sure if any of the cheaper ones can do Atmos. Make sure they specify that they can when you look.

  • I've got the arcana, and yes it's pricey. Got it because my TV doesn't support atoms passthrough which is really annoying.

Its quite niche so I don't think there are any alternatives?

  • I had a similar situation, 2019 Samsung tv without EARC, connecting to a Sonos Beam Gen 2.

I ended up with this specific model of Audio Extractor + HDMI Switch ( at the time it was available on Amazon AU for like $130AUD)

    https://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-HDMI-Switch-18Gbps-Built/dp/B0…

Input 1 goes to the Sonos Beam for audio, Inputs 2-4 go to Nvidia Shield TV Pro, PS5 & Nintendo Switch

    Output 1 goes to TV.

Auto switching isn't 100% perfect, but it got LPCM & DTS-HD both working. Cheaper than a new TV and the Arcana.

    • Just to point out, this only supports up to 18Gbps, so a lot of next gen gaming features won't work.

That said, if you need it because you don't have a TV with eARC, then that might not actually matter to you.

Just for anyone looking for a similar solution, I ended up going with the Arcana. It’s appears to be the best solution. Purchased directly from HDFury and used code blackfriday to get 20% off. Thanks to everyone that responded.
