Update: likely forfeiting this prize, the promoter has asked for more information than I'd be comfortable to send over the internet including tax information, passport details, names of parents, place of birth etc.

@FrankAbagnaleJr: Geez thats some weird information being requested, Lithuania based competition it would appear. I declined an Italy based comp win earlier this morning, they asked for Tax/Social Security Number. Asking for parents names and place of birth which are often secondary questions on password retrieval is a huge red flag!!

@BillyStm: Yeah, so I got more of an explanation. Some countries require you to declare competition wins when you do your tax, I think it's more common in Europe than anywhere else. I told them it's not a requirement in Australia with reference to the ATO website and they ended up agreeing to just take my name and postage address. Will see if the prize ends up arriving…

              • @FrankAbagnaleJr: Nice, definitely Italy needed those details for local law with regards to their competitions. EU (Not UK) is heavy on documentation both when sending and receiving competition related things. Those other questions were odd to include though. Fingers crossed they end up sending them as its a good win :)

                • @BillyStm: Yeah definitely odd to include so will just wait and see now what happens.
