  • OPSM definitely stock Oakley frames. At least they did 15 years ago in Adelaide.

  • OPSM do. Not sure about Oakley, but they did Ray Ban for me last year

I would have thought a quick Google search would have resulted in the answer…

    • You over estimate humans

      • I guess I do…

OP is looking for a retailer that will sell Oakley Sunnies as a prescription, as it can then be claimed via BUPA./Medibank etc.
As the glasses aren't prescription this is something the retailer shouldn't be doing, but do to make more sales….easy money.
Retailers don't advertise this as they could receive a slap across the wrist or more from the health fund.
I only know one retailer in Melbourne where I am a regular around this time of year. Unfortunately can't help you with Perth tho.

This is why we pay too much tax and why Medicare is buckling. This is but one loophole of thousands.

@Protractor: the OP wants to claim under his own private healthcare.

            how does that affect medicare?

It has nothing to do with Medicare, it is the private health funds.
Its not like the customer isn't paying for it, as it is part of the premium they pay.
The customer still needs to get an eye check to prove they need prescription glasses each year.
The customer is just choosing not to get prescription but instead sunglasses instead.
If your eyes haven't changed from last year to next, then in many instances you already have a set of presciption glasses already.

For every action there's an equal & opposite reaction.
Private insurance goes up to cover these and many more dubious claims.
Including from medical practises.People bail from private when premiums are no longer afforable.
Medicare levy rises accordingly (aka tax) and health system must cope with extra bums on seats.
Every interaction on the health insurance front impacts on taxes, health system and service standards because the
existing model can't deal with the ageing population, and the SIZE of the patient load through the shher number of patients ,period

@Protractor: Unfortunately in a world run by money morals often get left behind

          • @Protractor: That's a fair argument IMO, however if you're paying for PHI and they allow you to claim prescription glasses with a 0.5 mag lense but also give you the original lenses in the bag when you leave, it's fair game.

For reference my fortnightly premiums went up by less than a dollar this renewal. So if PHI is becoming unaffordable the market will adjust itself.

            • @Mechz: If you could remove the prescription lense from your cover, then that would be fair. But since you are forced to pay for it, then you should be able to use it…regardless of the condition of your eye balls. I break frames all the time from being active (sports). They - private health - should encourage this.

    • Haha appreciate it. You know what im talking about. NSW id be sweet.

    • thanks…which Retailer in Melbourne does this?
