  • How long before you get credited the points?

    • Very quickly, by all accounts. I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone waiting more than two weeks.

do ppl churn electricity like they do with nbn?

    • Absolutely!

    • I think so
But people get scared off by the hassle of it or exit costs or there’s some fear mongering.
I’ve been with red for a while now but would love if there was a gold starndard for churning and ozbarg approved

These bonus offers get people and I think are good for the churners but prices might be a bit higher overall… I’d say the variance between providers would likely be the value of these vouchers or points generally but would say moving once or twice a year prob nets best value

Red Energy bumped up my electricity prices about 40 days after signing up with them with one of these Qantas promos, now it's hardly any cheaper per kWh than Origin who I was with previously.
Getting an offer now I'm considering from Everyday Rewards to switch back to Origin Energy and get 20,000 points and a $150 Origin credit.

    • were is this offer of 20K points?

      • It's listed as a points booster in my everyday rewards app, I'm guessing the offer is not available for everyone.

I cancelled their service 2 months ago. Am I still eligible for the points if I sign up again?

  • +2

The worst customer service I've ever experienced from a utility.
Energy Australia has 100x better service and is a similar price in my area.

Not sure how they win all those Canstar rewards for most satisfied customers, they don't even have a working app to show your power usage yet.

Edit: just checked the app and it's working now, must have been enabled in the last few days. Was supposed to receive a notification when the app went online.

      • Canstar ratings are a scam. Essentially pay for ratings.

  • Ah balls my refferal had dropped off but just re added it back in
I think the vouchers were a better deal but the points are nice at this level by comparison

Globird bumped both electricity and gas rate just after honeymoon. It is time to avoid loyalty tax. Thanks OP!

  • One of the worst energy retailer. They take you to Court if you question their account. Thugs.

    Sounds like red-faced energy

      Red-flag Energy…

Absolutely incompetent company. Been trying to change plans for 6 weeks and they keep making excuses. Long wait times to call as well. Gonna transfer out if not resolved soon.

  • I'm with Sumo. Best feed in tariff and lowest price. In SA I can't find better for my circumstances

Like to churn the 30k points but got cold feet after going through google reviews.
Bunches of people got insane exit bill before they left for other company even they did not use that much.

"Bonus Qantas Points will only be awarded once if you change energy providers and move back to Red Energy within 12 months."
So, only the previous Red customers who cancelled their Red services during the last 12 months are eligible for the bonus points, right?

If you were a red energy customer in the last 12 mo you are not eligible. You need to wait a year before you can apply for this deal, same as churning credit cards

      • Are you sure about this? I thought this is an attempt to win customers who recently switched from Red Energy back.

        • +1

          Yes, go to redenergy.com.au
Put in your postcode and say you’re a new customer.

You can select the deal and it’ll tell you that you will get 20k points for electricity, it’s not a direct link to a deal either it’s on their homepage

          • @Brick50: Thanks for that! I was with Red Energy less than 12 months ago but not under the Qantas Red Saver plan (I didn’t get any bonus points). I’m now with a different company. If I sign up for the Qantas Red plan now, I’m guessing I’m eligible for it then?

            • +1

@foxes28: Yes it sounds to me as long as you were on a different plan and didn’t receive any qantas points from them in last 12 mo you are eligible

  • Thanks, changed over electricity. Hopefully I will receive points before end of the year so I can switch over to the ovo plan with free electricity from 11am-2pm before that expires

  • Thanks, I changed mine to Red as well, looks like they are slightly cheaper than Energy Local… Lets See

Just want to confirm I signed up for electricity 27/11, it changed over on 1/12.

Received $25 gift voucher from referral and also my 20k qantas points yesterday 3/12.

    Unbelievable

    • I switched on 3/12 and got the 10k bonus points (I'm in NSW) yesterday. Do you know if I can switch to another provider without them taking the Qantas points them back? Customer retention team from my old provider just rang today offering me better rates lol

      • +1

For sure I think you can, I am being extra cheeky and had my partner sign up and “move” to the property under the deal as well so hopefully she will get the points and then they’ll cancel my account

Will keep you updated if we get another 20k points

        • Genius! Btw did they send you the $25 gift voucher via email? Who was the sender if you don't mind me asking? I haven't received one yet

          • @foxes28: Yes it came from [email protected]

When you signed up you used someone’s referral code?

            • @Brick50: Thanks! Pretty sure I did.

              • @foxes28: I got the email at 3am the same day the points were credited into my FF account, hopefully it comes through soon for you

                • @Brick50: Nice. I won't be too upset if I don't get it. The Origin retention team only gave me 24 hrs to take up their offer :D

                  • @foxes28: Did you end up receiving the gift card? My partner received her gift card today from me referring her, however no qantas points yet

                    • @Brick50: Nope I haven’t and tbh at this point I don’t think I’ll get it. Hope she gets the QFF points soon!

                      • +1

@foxes28: Finally received the 20k points for my partner today

        • So you mean you first signed up on your name for the same address and then your partner signed up for the same address (as a new move) and your account automatically got cancelled?

  • Most of the guys here churn only electricity or gas as well?

  • need a referral

  • Did this deal, waiting for qantas points.

Call from existing provider wanting me to swap back, offered me 15% old prices and credit for electric and $100 credit for gas.

Advised I’m keen once I got qantas points and agreed to call them back when ready to switch back.

    Lovely deal. Thanks OP
