Buying Pool Tables

Ozpimps,

I was thinking of getting a pool table for the living room, a 7 foot one. Has anyone had any luck with anyone that makes or sells them? It would get a lot of use. Happy to pay a few grand or a refurb if good value.

People always end up regretting them as they take up a bunch of space, look for 2nd hand ones on ebay or gumtree. You can usually find them for 50% off retail.

Could just go to a pool hall. Or buy Wii Pool or whatever.

    • Pool table is always a hit when you entertain at home out the back however, enclosed verandah, BBQ, music, good drinks and the pool table or ping pong top.
Getting everyone to a pool hall when not all may want to play is not really a lot of fun. It is why we have entertaining areas in backyards ).

      • If you had a cover for it and it could function as a normal table when not in use, then that would help a lot I think.

and buy one with a slate top, not a wooden one

Indeed, more of a pain to move but never ever get a wooden top.

  • I got mine from https://masterbilliards.com.au/ in Sydney. Not sure where you're based though

I don't play as much as I should but no regret
Let me know if it have any specific questions

Make sure the slate isn't cracked. Transport it accordingly. Muppets should not be involved in moving them. Get a pro. I'd buy a good second hand ex-pub type with ball return if I was you.
