Cat6 Cable by The Roll (300m) - Where to Buy in Sydney?

Hello fellow ozbargainers!

I am about to embark on a DIY project (YES…I know,,, I should be getting a licenced cabler, but hey…sucker for my own punishment to save a buck, hopefully you all understand), of wiring up ethernet backhauls for my mesh and some outlets so I can avoid patchy wifi around the house, and maybe some future POE equipment…but I've noticed a lot of choice & price variance on Cat Cabling…

I've decided on Cat6 to future-proof a bit, but no need for Cat6a/Shielded.

Can anyone recommend where (and specifically what) to buy for this? I believe 23 AWG, solid core, try to buy a reputable brand so I avoid CCA or other questionable generic/fake things…

Do I go somewhere like Bunnings/Jaycar? Or a Elec wholesaler - J R Turk / TLE / Hayman? Most seem to only be selling Clipsal ~$250/roll for 305m, but hard to even get prices from some of these as they want you to have a 'trade' account etc.

The other option is 4cabling but this all appears generic/no name brand.

Finally, if anyone has tips on where to get wall plates etc, as I also see a huge variance in that…it would be appreciated! At the moment I was going to get Jaycar $1.80 ea link? I will buy a punchdown tool, and use keystone female jacks.

Electrical Wholesaler would typically sell to anyone - dont need a trade account.

That has been my experience at least.

  • I can vouch for the 4cabling stuff, it's good quality!

I am installing cat6a solid core at the moment.

  • As for wall plates, get the right grid to match what you have in your house already (usually clipsal or HPM).

You can then get the keystones and keystone adapters for these wall plates (4cabling also sells these).

4cabling is a quality brand, I use it in commercial construction regularly.

I bought 300m myself about a year ago to do 8 cams, WAPs,and a few ethernet ports.
I think i bought Cat6 from Mwave, no complaints.
So far I've only used clipsal iconic or bunnings rj45 plates which ain't cheap.
