GPU Prices Nightmare - Show Us Your Flashbacks

Was cleaning out my inbox. Came across this old "deal" for an RTX3080 from just over 12 months ago.

I know prices were bad, but seeing this in my inbox certainly gave me flashbacks.

keen to see any of your "deals" for when GPU's were at their peak….try to avoid any scalper listings.

haha you can get entire PCs for that and have plenty of change to spare

not gpu but ispropyl alcohol was crazy - i had a 5L in the garage from before covid and apparently they were selling for $5-600

    • I made hand sanitiser with my 5L jug. Worked pretty good too, a little runny but.

12 months ago that wasn't scalping, that was just a stupid tax. Much like this - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07GJ7TV8L

I bought a second hand Strix card for $1k 18 months ago, prices were bad but hopefully no one actually paid that price.

    • ooof….do you reckon those ever sell?

I suspect that's just a placeholder URL for the store. Clearly nobody is going to buy it, but they want to keep that product 'code' reserved on Amazon, so they just jack the price up to insane levels and leave it there untouched.

This happens with a lot of products on Amazon.

$4,326.55 on eBay, most likely for the much coveted Founder's edition (can't tell because listing is gone). This email was sent during the 3080 pre-order period.
