You might want to specify a budget. A bit hard for me to quantify your idea of "fortune" :)
Also it's fine fitting a SATA III drive on a SATA II controller. The bandwidth would be limited for sure, but you might not see too much real world performance degrading.
Currently you can get 256GB LiteOn/Plexter SATA III drives for ~$180-$185 delivered.
