Anycubic Photon Mono X2 9.1" 3D Resin Printer $287.20 Delivered ($280.02 eBay Plus) @ anycubic_australia eBay

Seems like a great beginner mid-sized printer. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles (no resin pump, swivel lid, WLAN, or air filters, and "only" a 4K screen) but the large build dimensions and ease-of-use seems like a worthy compromise at this price. I'm expecting mine to arrive in a few days as my first dip into resin printing (pun fully intended).

  • Looks ok, don't know much about these things, struggling to think what I could use them for…

What are you going to do with yours?

    • Probably gonna spend hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours designing and printing things that could be bought off Amazon for $15. You know, the usual!

  • You also need a separate curing chamber as it seems

    • Nah, just a uv lamp will cure the resin.

      • or put it in the sun

I have just the mono version of this if it helps. I'm not a big 3D printer, but for models these are sooooo accurate and you can get some great small model type figs that you just find online.
Because of the way it prints, print time is based on the vertical axis so a wide 10cm tall object is equally as long as a thin 10cm tall object. And it prints upside down lol.

You have to pour resin in the bath, then pour it out, so keep in mind you need a well ventilated place that is okay to get resin everywhere and deal with the smell.

I think the advantage is it creates amazing detailed models, but would take forever if say creating large amour pieces (due to smaller print size and time) to other 3d printers.

I have done this without really curing it and its okay, I only place it in the sun for a little while or bought a tiny uv torch and seems to do okay. If I was really going to be printing though I'd probably buy the cure and bath at some stage.

Please anyone buying, do not stores this indoors. You will run into organ issues if exposed long enough. Ideally in a climate controlled shed/workshop or an electronically well ventilated room and make sure you have gloves, vapour mask yourself.

  • And also watch this vid from Makers Muse about resin safety: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kHcsTG9QsM

  • Very strong fume if using any of the standard or ABS-like material.

    Tips:
Use ECO or plant based material, smell much less.
Use in well ventilated place, not just because of the fume but also you will likely clean the prints with almost pure alcohol.
Use the sun to cure printed parts, only takes several minutes.
If using paper tower or tissue paper to clean machine after print, expose waste paper under the sun for several minutes before discard into trash bin.
Do not touch the yellow transparent cover with hand/glove stained with print resin.
