    • Yes JB $300 bonus

      • Pixel 6 Pro $320 Officeworks, only $280 JB

        • Where are you seeing the pixel 6 pro at this price? Link?

  • +10

Maybe update title. Trade in bonus is when you can apply it to your purchase.

Would the receipt show the $400 gift card?

    For price protection claims.

  • Seems like a pretty good deal, I'm using a S21 which I got for $624 2 years ago, it has a $275 trade in value + $400 GC which takes the Pixel 8 128GB from $977 to $302.

    • +6

This is exactly what they want you to think, but in actual fact you are paying:

      • S21
      • $702

      And receiving:

      • pixel 8 128gb
      • $400 OW gc

Gift cards are not worth the same face value since there are always so many discounts on it. Most people can easily get 10% off ow/jb/tgg gc from classified

      • Good point, I assumed I would have been able to move the GC at a relatively small (5%?) on sell, but as you said 10% is somewhat common.

I have a 17-year-old generic brand non-smart phone which stopped functioning 14 years ago and has disintegrated into a puddle of plastic powder, battery acid and rusting electronics. I’m scared to touch it. How much would they give me in trade in value for it?

  • Is this deal online only or can be done in store?

    • +1

It can be done in store. Just purchased mine in store.

      • cheers

      • Did you fill out any trade-in documentation in store?

        • +3

There is nothing for you to do in store with regards to the trade-in. I didn't mention in store that I am trading in my phone.

The trade in is completely online (both the trade in for the Officeworks gift card as well as the pixel pro promotion gift card). This is separate to the pixel 8 pro purchase.

Once the trade in has been submitted, you will get a confirmation email.

          Officeworks Trade-In
          Congratulations!
Your Trade-In Additional Credit application has been received
Thanks for submitting your proof of purchase details for the Officeworks Trade-In Additional Credit.

          • @Jetpck: I have iPhone SE. I have changed the battery (not original). Is there a chance for Moorup to reject the $400 GC?

      • Any mention when you get the $400GC?

        • All it said in my confirmation email is that the gift card will be emailed "no later than Wednesday 20 December 2023"

          • @Jetpck: Hi I just bought Google pixel 8 pro, traded in my pixel 6. I received the gift card for trade in value but no confirmation about $400 gc. So called in officerwork, their delegate confirmed it will be through Google customer service. It all seems so confusing. Does any one know the process?

            • +1

@Melbourne01: Got a proper response, so for all others who are not clear about the additional gc claim process, here are steps that I have been asked to follow:

Kindly check whether you have completed all the steps in order to receive the bonus credit,

              Step 1: Start a Trade-In Order
Trade in any brand of smartphone to qualify for the additional Gift Card associated with this Promotional Offer.

Step 2: Purchase an eligible device
During the promotional period between Thursday 26 October 2023 to Thursday 16 November 2023, purchase either a Google Pixel 8 or Google Pixel 8 Pro at Officeworks.

Step 3: Submit the claim form below
Enter your Officeworks Order Number (or Transaction Number) and the same email address you used for your old device trade-in to confirm your eligibility before Thursday 30 November 2023.

Please check the bottom of the page to submit the claim form-

    Spy phone

    • Really? Cool!

    • Mate, you've got Chinese phones, or 'American' phones made in China. Pick your poison.

    • There are certain things that we should not feed. They thrive on attention.

      • Children?

  • So just to clarify, you go in store and buy the pixel 8. Hey the receipt and then use that when you trade in online with Moorup to get the gift card, you can't just take the old phone in store?

  • I broke my pixel 7 pro screen , they still will give you $400 GV for trade in?

    • No

    • I have a crack in a pixel6a and it was $20 or $150 if I said there was no crack.
Assuming +$400 is on top of that

      • Officeworks giving $0, Jb giving $129 + $300 GV for my pixel 7pro 256gb

  • Why can't iPhone get these offers?

    • +2

iPhones wouldn't retain their value as well as they do if they had sales like Samsung and Google phones do. So in exchange for lack of sales, you get resell value which I think is a fair tradeoff.

      • but … until their sale starts to fall

  • How do I actually claim the $400 GC? Send emails to officeworks? I can't seem to find where to submit the 2 receipts.

    • +3

There is a form on the bottom of their offer page:
      https://officeworks.moorup.com.au/promotion/google-pixel-8-o…

      • thank you very much!

      • Just another question, the link says "Trade-in device can be any smartphone, any brand as long as Moorup provides a Trade-In Value." Can I trade in an old ipad which has a $5 value? This is confusing because they use the word "smartphone".

        • Not sure, might be worth dropping them an email.

          • +3

@wafflcoptr: Just did. I'll report here if I've got any answer.

        • +2

Just got an official reply: The Trade-in device should be any smartphone, which we consider the iPad is not an smartphone.

I think I'll buy from JB hifi then, since I can only trade in the S21 valued at $285 to get the $400 bonus, and I don't know what to do with those officeworks gift card anyway.

          • @mkkuo:

Just got an official reply: The Trade-in device should be any smartphone, which we consider the iPad is not an smartphone.

FWIW SquareTradeUp (the mob that JB uses) said the same thing when I asked them about getting bonus credit when trading in a laptop. I tried it anyway, the system accepted it, and I got the bonus credit.

Maaaaybe it'll work with OW too.

          • @mkkuo: Thanks for reporting back. Was just about to pull the pin and trade in an old iPad.

    • I assume I need 2 separate receipts to claim $800 GC and also a different account/name?

  • Anyone done the research for the cheapest marketplace phones that qualifies for trade-in?.or the best buy/resale ratio?

If you don't have a tradable phone it might be worth spending $50 on to get $400+$1 back
(Assuming the GC will be used.)

  • I've got a working pixel 3a. It just mentions the 3 as acceptable for returns. Anyone know why this might be?

    • I am in the same boat as you. Pixel 3a still going strong.

  • +2

Personally feel the JB offer is better if you want to get the phone for the cheapest price? Trade in plus bonus $300?

    • depends if you were going to spend $400 at officeworks anyway

    • Jb hifi is $300 off not a GV

  • +2

Noticed OW is much more generous about the trade-ins compared to JB. For example put in IPhone 6s plus for trade-in where OW gives me $5 hence helping to qualify for $400 GC whereas JB advises me to recycle

  • A shame they won't accept trade ins of non Australian phones. What age are we living in, if someone who moves countries can't trade in the phones in their new country?

    • Unfortunately some manufacturers put different components depending on the market. Non-Australian phones could support different bands for example.

      • This is true. I bought a phone overseas for cheaper price. Unfortunately, both Telstra and Optus SIMs didn't work on the device.

  • I just got pixel 7 pro 512gb for just under $1200. Not sure if I got ripped off.

  • Does anyone know how long the gift card will be valid for?

    • Expect it doesn't expire?

      • Usually promo gift cards like these ones have a shorter expiry date than if you were to buy a gift card off the shelf

        • not this time which comes with 4 years

  • OK, to be clear on the trade in… It has to be one of the phone in Moorup to qualify for the $400 bonus gift card?

Or can it be any phone… if it's not in Moorup, you don't get any trade in value but you can still get the $400 bonus gift card?

    • Normally phones with $0 trade-in value are rejected from proceeding on the page. Have you been on the trade-in page and entered your device details to check?

      • The device I have isn't on Moorup. (it's a 10yo+ 3.5" Telstra Pulse, bought as a cheap back up that never got used… still powers up).

I just didn't know if it still qualified for the $400 bonus gift card despite having no trade in value but I'm guessing it has to have a trade in value and then the $400 is applied on top.

        • Generally, yes. Otherwise, people could trade in their old Nokia 8810s.

          • @Beyond: I actually have an old Nokia E63 in my bedside table… still works. Good condition and great battery life too compared to current phones (I use it as an alarm clock from time to time) - lol

            • @Mugsy: I think that's the phone I had next.

    $200 iPhone is faster

    • +4

Shouldn't you be on another ozB page trying to build up your Apple ecosystem?

    • It used to be $2k iPhone fyi ;)

    • Where can you buy a $200 iPhone brand new?

    • Remember everyone, some things shouldn't be fed. :)

        Homeless people?

    don't forget to stack either;
    - Combank step pay $40 off
    - or ALDI discount cards
    - or NAB buy now pay later discount.

  • +1

I'd be seriously tempted to trade in my S22 ultra IF the $400 voucher could be used to purchase the damn phone.

    • JB offers $300 discount if you keen

  • What's the battery like in this version of the pixel? Is it as shit as the prior versions? I have a Samsung Flip4 I would like to trade in for a phone that takes good photos without having to pay anything/much on top

  • -1

My 2 months pixel 7, profect condition, office work value it at $55 dollor?

    JB have $350

    • marketplace will value it for $600 or more.

      • +1

Not with the cheap Pixel 8s being listed after this deal

      • I don't understand anyone that would buy a used Pixel 7 for $600+ when you can buy a brand new Pixel 7 for $713 at Reebelo. Brand new 6 Pro is also $650.

    • You might click something wrong, they value it at $390.

  • +6

JB Hifi price matched the Officeworks price and also increased the $300 dollar trade-in bonus they currently have on pixel 8 and pixel pro 8 to $400. They also allowed me to use the credit against the price of the phone. So the pixel 8 pro was $1277-$400 = $877 upfront. The store rep mentioned the current deal is the black friday deal and should last til then.

    • They haven't updated their webpage to state that, is it only in-store?

      • Not sure if it is only in-store. I purchased the phone in the store and the $300 trade-in credit bonus was advertised above the phones. The store rep mentioned the deal went live this morning after a visit from a google rep. I mentioned Officeworks was giving $400 bonus credit and they agreed to match it.

        • Great, thanks for reporting!

        • Thanks for the great suggestion Dominos123 - I'm going to try tomorrow - was it a tough sell or did the salesperson offer the match pretty easily? Did you have to show them the OW deal and ask them if they could match the $400 credit?

          Edit: saw your comment below

    • so the trade-in was done in store? like the online process of tradein and then later you will send in the device

      • +2

Yes. I filled out the online form on the SquareTradeUp website in the store which required the phone's IMEI number, my driver's license, and credit card details. Received an email after completing the form which the store then processed immediately to discount the price of the phone. Now I am required to post the phone within 7 days. I should mention that the trade-in bonus was only $300, so the store reduced the price of the phone by another $100 (to $1177) to match the $400 Officeworks bonus trade-in credit.

        • Visited the JB store today and was told that they couldn't do anything with the trade-in bonus or the price of the phone. A completely different story!

        • Which store was it?

  • +1

This process sucks, ive done my trade in online, requested instant voucher for the trade in value and havent received it yet however theyve charged my credit card the trade in value authorisation, which is meant to drop off after i return my old phone.

The officeworks Moorup website doesn't even have a phone number to ring, only an email.

So my credit card has been charged and I dont have my "instant" digital gift voucher yet…

PS: not talking about the bonus $400 voucher, its clear thats redeemed by online redemption and provided by end of December.

    • Did you end up getting the trade-in giftcard? Same thing happened to me.

      • Hi both. Same is happening to me too. Am in a store waiting for the supposed instant trade-in giftcard.

Did you guys end up getting yours? How long did it take?

        • I submitted my trade-in request late last night but still haven't received the gift card. I emailed Moorup this morning (no response), also tried calling the phone number on the credit card authorization (Hulii) but no reponse.

          • +1

@naisuda: I didn't the same at 7am this morning and haven't receive anything. Left voicemails to their hotline but no one response and emailed them for the issue. They emailed back half hour ago and said they are experiencing unprecedented demand for online gift card vouchers and they have requested the relevant department to re issue the Prezzee gift card voucher…etc

It seems unlikely will get the GC by today.

            • @alau24: That would be quite a fail on their part if their own IT issues cause a bunch of customers lose out on the deal and be stuck with a giftcard they no longer want later down the line.

I've also left them an email. Let's hope they can get something out to us soon.

              • @Arch113: I had the same issue and went into my local Officeworks. They had no idea. Called up customer support while in the store and they didnt have any ideas either. Have sent an email to Moorup in the meantime and asked the officeworks to hold on to the Pixel 8 pro until COB today…

      • Update: received an email from the email I sent to Hulii (Moorup partner where the phones get sold / where the authorisation charge came from):

        Thank you for your email.

We are experiencing unprecedented demand for online gift card vouchers.

As a consequence, we are facing some delay in gift card processing and responsiveness to customer enquiries. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused and understand how frustrating this may be. We ask for your patience as we work diligently to process your gift card requests as soon as possible.

Your continued support is very much appreciated as we work diligently to return to normal processing and strive to improve and deliver a great customer experience.
