      yes, it will work

      • Thanks, just wanted to make sure I’d qualify as a new customer

this $250 SIM is DEFINITELY NOT enabled for 5G

    • +1

Incorrect, all Vodafone branded services on prepaid offer 5G.
It also clearly states this on their website (top centre under the wording "Prepaid mobile plans") here: https://www.vodafone.com.au/prepaid/plans
It has been this way for over 12 months now.
All my family use this SIM and we all have 5G (where it's available).

      • hmm … no idea then. i have two services on the Vodafone year plan and none of them get 5G in my 5G phone.

        • Is it directly from Vodafone or a reseller, such as Kogan?
Are you definitely in a Vodafone 5G zone?

          • @SimAus007: yes definitely in Vodafone 5G zone. the phone says 5G, but speedtest.net shows speed of 25Mbps. that is definitely not 5G speed. my 4G phone on Kogan shows 85Mbps, way faster than the supposed 5G

            • @J-T: Sure that's not speed testing your home 25Mbps NBN over wifi? Just a thought (I've done that myself thinking it was testing the phone network data rate).
The only reason you'd consistently get stuck at 25Mbps is if you've been shaped, such as their post paid plans which do this once the monthly limit is hit.
I know their Felix brand does this for the unlimited plans, but that's 4G only.
All very strange, but I would call them to sort that out. Good luck :)

              • @SimAus007: i got no NBN. i've been using cellular hotspot for watching movies, games emails the whole time. 5G is faster than NBN. with Boost 5G, sometimes i get up to 600Mbps. i've never had more than 90Mbps for Vodafone 5G

  • My partner is on Kogan 150GB/365 days ($120 AUD). Is it worth changing her to this? She has 1 month left and still has 9GB left.

Although the extra Woolies points is nice extra as we collect Qantas FF. But is it worth porting out and paying extra $30?

    • +1

Probably not if she still has 9GB left and a month to go, to me, Kogan is better for her.
Bonuses for Vodafone deal posted here are: extra data (doesn't sound like she needs that) + 5G + good roaming rates + Woolworths rewards points.
For her, that's $30 more for those 2000 EDR points, they aren't worth the $30 difference.

    Goodbye Optass

Does anyone know if this prepaid plan can still receive SMS/OTP messages while overseas? Or you gotta buy the $5 roaming one to receive SMS while overseas?

The $5/day is handy if doing short trips, but quite often end up getting a local sim card for top speeds

    • +2

I chatted with their customer service reg. esim. They also told me that receiving SMS while overseas is free. If you want to make calls/send SMS, then you need to pay for roaming.

  • +1

Not sure if someone has asked this question before, but will I be able to receive banking SMS\OTP etc while travelling overseas, if I get this sim card.

I dont need the phone calls or data or anything else to work. I will just have this sim in a spare phone, just need bank SMS\OTP to work in case..

going to travel through south east Asia\Indian subcontinent if that makes a difference.

    thanks

  • Couldnt find this at Woolworths QV in the CBD this morning. Will check out other wollies.

    • plenty in my local woolworths

    • Plenty of stock in qv woolies just now. Just grab one from the wall and pay at counter. It says $250 pre paid on the package but when you pay it becomes $150.

Even more stock at big w just across but idk if they price match.

      • Thanks, either they added them later or i just overlooked them

      • Did it say 240 gb and “Summer Bonus data offer” on the cover?

        • From the comments, you get the deal if its a Vodaphone $250 sim.
Just scan at the counter and check if you do indeed get $150.

  • +1

Went to 2 stores around 4503, QLD, Brisbane today. Couldnt find any.
    Asked staff, they were clueless.
Couldnt even find on their online useless stock system.
    Waste of time.

    • Yea no available around NSW 2011 too.

    • Also non here at NSW2093

      • I got one in central this morning

    • Some has the new cover ,some not. 240g $250 is the new one, 150g $250 is the old. Both works but you get 2000pts straight on the new one, 1000pts on the old, you may need talk to everyday reward to claim the 1000 pts.

  • +1

Couldn't find any 240gb ones but plenty of $150 ones for like around 160gb. Didn't want to risk it, probably old packaging and they didn't update.

  • Got mine, but only have 1000 bonus points. Query sent to WW why not 2000 points as advertised.

    • Same. I was going to send it too.

Sim card was older design not that it matters

      • Ditto here. Only received 1000 bonus points. Will bring it up with support.

  • Plenty of stock in Camberwell

  • +2

I just purchased one, and I only got 1000 points, kinda weird it was advertised 2000 points!

    • Me too~ I'm just received 1000 points

      • I went to everyday rewards website and clicked on the missing points button, it prompted a lil form for me to complete, and it requires specific pos and trans number from the receipt, hope I can get my missing 1000 points!

    • +2

      Same, only got 1,000 points.

That aside, stack with everyday extra (currently half price at $35) to immediately get 10% off this purchase.
Ended up paying $135 for this sim.
If woolies ends up giving the missing 2k points, that would bringing this to $125 if you count the $10 voucher for next purchase.
      Sweet deal.

      • Wish I saw this earlier.

Purchased the $250 SIM for $150 and my local Woolies, immediately received the 2,000 points. A notice came up on the screen for "$10 towards my next shop".

        • what's the cover of you sim pack looks like? $250 for 150GB?

          • @ce5himm: Packaging was 240GB for $240. Scans up as $150

            • @axus350: Maybe that's why you get the correct 2000 pts, and some other people got 1000 pts from old package.

              • @ce5himm: My pack reads 240 gb $250
But I only recd 1000 bonus points

                • @Shad: interesting, i purchased one myself this morning, with the new cover. same as axus350, got 2000 pts stright away. however, yesterday i scanned a 150g for $250 packet, system only give me 1000 pts. i have no idea, maybe need to talk to everyday rewards to get the missing 1000 pts.

                  • @ce5himm: I think they might have realised the mistake and correct it in the system. So people who bought on the first day missed out.

        • @axus350 I'm a bit new to Woolies reward. That is, never really used and/or got into the rewards thing. My prepaid is expiring beginning of next year, so this deals came at a good time for me. But I was just wondering, when you say you got the 2000 points and then the $10 towards the next shop, I assume it is due to the 2000 points and that you are not getting both, i.e the 2000 points & the $10. Is that correct?

          • +1

@pyreusk: Correct, 2000 points will convert into $10. You don't get both; that would equate to $20 value.

            • @axus350: Thanks for the quick reply and clarification. Guess a bit of wishful thinking on my part in regards to getting both the points and the 10 bucks 🤣.

        • Have you checked the app? That $10 could be whatever points you already have +1000 pts from this purchase, reached 2000 pts. Not solely from the sim purchase. I got that msg too, checked app, only 1150 points.

  • +1

Can confirm I got the 10% discount on 2 x vodafone 240gb sims with my grocery shop with Everyday extra.

    • Woolworth townhall Sydney store not accepted 10% discount on any sims

  • -3

So I went to 3 different ones in WA and they don't have this Sim kinda annoying zz

    • Stock in Armadale if you're nearby?
Not advertised but price will be 150 when you scan it

      • Okay found some in Kingsway thanks for help though did not get the 2k points as advertised

    • I just bought two in Woolworths in Melville today, got heaps there with the 240GB $250 packaging.

Can confirm I applied and got 10% discount as well with my Everyday Rewards member so it comes up to $135 each.

  • a few left in South Melbourne Woolies. there are newer and older ones, either scan at $150 at counter. no price advertised, still show $250 on the shelf

  • +1

Brisbane City Woolworths had a few available.

10% off brought it down to $135. Bonus 2000 points ($10) makes it $125, $10.41/month for 20GB data + 5G + eSIM (if you use it).

  • +1

For those who are thinking about activating later or you have 12 months to activate, beware that it is 150GB + 90GB bonus on activation by Feb24.

    • @c2pv1ru5I could only find this at my local Woolworths.
No info or anything regarding the "bonus" 90GB posted anywhere.. and staff at Woolworths had no clue..

Is this what you purchased and did you get the additional 90GB , bringing total data to 240GB ? Thanks

  • Just wonder may I use the coles master gift card to pay this sim plan?

  • I scanned a pack might be an old package(150gb for $250), it only shows 1000 points. Maybe people who got 2000 points straight away is purchasing new package? what's the new package look like

    • I got the new pack and just checked I got 1000 point too. I start to guess they put the ads wrong and will only allocate 1000?

      • I had the new cover one, received 2000 pts straight away

        • Holy sht. Thx for the info.

I may need to talk to the staff later.

        • Just to confirm. Did you just see your 10 dollar reward notice on the checkout screen or you actually see 2000 points from your account?

I thought I got 2000 as well at the time I saw the notice, but after checking my app and it's only 1000 plus my balance.

          • @gosund: You are right, I checked again, it shows 1150 pts, I think that's 1000.

  • -1

Damn, this makes Boost's 170GB Data for $173 last week, mid.
Does anyone even know if there is a speed cap for this Vodaphone prepaid 5g plan? is it even possible to go higher than 150Mps download speed with Vodaphone?

    • I checked and it says only those 30 to 60 $ plans allow you to continue using the data with the shaped speed. For this one you'll have to buy addons or being charged at a rate to use data.

  • Check if this offer can be combined with the Everyday Rewards Extra free trial.

You will get 150 base points
      + 150 everyday extra
      + 2000 bonus

      • 2 correction for your calculation as per my activity summary from the app.

AND IT ONLY SHOWED 1000 BONUS. Should I wait a fews to see if there are other bonus to come in??

  • Plenty of stock in Woolworths double bay

  • I made a complaint to optus about the outage and they renewed my annual data plan for the next yr.

    • Lol Jeez winner

  • I just heard that Vodafone charges $8 to porting out. In case there is still people like me didn't aware of this.

    • For a postpaid account, it's more understandable but I'd be shocked if this fee applies to prepaid service.

      • yes, i will still use this pack, but no more direct vodafone.

        • Do you have any source for that? I still don't believe you'll get that charge on these prepaid service

  • Does anyone know if this work on Spend $100 to collect 5400 points?
Gift cards and mobile recharge are excluded. Would this be considered as gift card or mobile recharge?

    • It won't allow you to pay with gift card if it's considered as gift card. And I paid mine with gift card. So I have to assume in the system this is just a normal iteam.

      • Interesting. Someone posted that WW system treats this starter pack like a gift card. So unable to pay using a GC.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14552866/redir

How did you make your payment with GC? Self or manned checkout?

        • +1

I paid with GC at self check out.

Read some comments above and you'll see a couple of them mentioned this as well.

        • +1

I just read the one from your link. He confused this vodafone sim with wwls sims. They are different treated un the system
