I'm Looking to Buy a New Keychain

Hello m8s, while I do want to save a few pennies, I'm okay with paying maybe $100.00 for something that will last a while for me. I don't care about money as much as I should when it comes to quality, I have the money. It seems to me there isn't much available or maybe I don't know the proper sites you guys use.

I'm new to all this. I bought a, a while ago, and it's starting to loosen where you tie one end, I also bought one of these.

I'm now planning to buy a new key chain entirely because I am no longer happy with the old one. I'm planning to buy one of these to put on it, and I need to find a torch to buy as well. I don't need a fire starter as I'm not big on camping and won't need it.

Do you guys know of anything else for me to look at? Thanks for reading guys!

I bought this edamame like keychain when you press it the beans come out - it's a stress relief one. It's $2 from Auspost.

Haha cool, I looked it up but it not something I really need, I'm not really stressed but thanks anyway man.

re the torch: this one from olight is pretty good. Easy to use, 1 x aaa, very bright. It often comes in various colors / patterns when it is given away as a freebie during sales (you pay for postage). I've had 2 of them now and given them away to family members - I have a few lights already. My niece has blinded me with hers on several occasions

I just use a nite ize #3 slide lock with 2 bog standard split rings.

    Car fob
    Wuben g2
    AirPod pro in a case
Prob will add an AirTag in a holder if/when AirTag 4 pack ever gets down to sub $129

Then also have another nite ize3 for house/office keys

  • how many keys you have to carry?
    Where do you keep them?

The orbit and exotac look pretty high quality, disappointed they havent lasted.

Someone i know has a real leather key pouch that he got from a leatherworker that has lasted a long time, and it stips his keys jangling which is nice.

Something everyone should have on their car keyring is a lifehammer of car escape tool
There are big ones but the key ring ones stay with you

Havent heard anyone mention this for a long time! I used to carry one of those around on my motorbike key (small key), but I've replaced the bike so its a bit more bulkier to carry it with a car key fob. Now, it sits in my glovebox but i don't think i'll ever use it. I have other things in my car that are more effective!

Is this some kind of troll post?

    If it's serious, don't get a Tile. It's a POS.

and I need to find a torch to buy as well. I don't need a fire starter as I'm not big on camping and won't need it.

This has got to be a troll post.

    • Not a troll post, I've got a Tile, there okay, what's so bad about them?

      • Mine was randomly unreliable.

        • Can you elaborate? It does kinds suck when the batteries die and you have to get new ones, but it's not the end of the world.

I use a Nite Ize Bigfoot Keyrack. It's overkill really but I really like that you can easily remove stuff. The top Carabiner lock can come undone in your pocket but it's not too bad. The multitool that I stick in that part has fallen out a few times over the 2 and 1/2 years I've had mine. The plastic bit can fall off too. I think that has fallen off once.

Okay.. willing to pay up to $100 for a keyring but what do you want out of it? Do you want the keyring to do something… like.. like give you a massage, perhaps?.. or do you just want it to hold your keys together and look good?

    • -1

Yes, I'm willing to pay some good money if I find something worth getting in my opinion, are you honestly going to help out or just troll? I don't care how it looks to others.

      • +1

It depends what you're looking for…. I've got a $500 keychain that does nothing other than hold my keys together (and that's all I wanted it to do). Any $2 keychain would do the same thing, but I wanted the particular I've got now. So my question is.. do you want the keychain to do anything? Some people have little multitools.. some people have torches., some people have other little things on it that they think might come in handy on a day to day basis.

Do you have a lot of keys? Do you need them to come apart easily in case you want to leave half of them at home?

I'm not trolling, but not giving us the basic info makes it very difficult for anyone to try help.

        • Sorry, mate. I'm not used to Ozbargain, where you can edit replies, I only read it now.

        • Please show me what keyring half a k gets you? That sounds amazing

          • +1

@bargain huntress: Check your PMs. It's definitely not amazing - the high price is in the brand name. And it's shit quality!

  • I don't want a Multitool, I've got a disability where I shake, I'm just after ideas of something else I could get, I need a torch though, I still haven't found a good one, or a keychain, I'm open to ideas.

    • It's a bit over the budget you've mentioned, but if you want 'quality' and a torch keychain, have a look at this > https://www.surefire.com/titan-plus/

      • Thanks, that looks good, not sure about if they ship to here, though. I live in QLD, btw.

        • Sometimes they come on eBay and Amazon (currently unavailable).

I have to say that there are others, like Olight and other chinese brands that are brighter, etc, and much cheaper too. Surefire is designed mainly for military and law enforcement etc, hence the prices.. but I personally really like their products.

          • @bobbified: Ah, righto. I see, I'll just have to keep on the lookout and hope I get lucky one day, cheers.

Depends on what you like. I have a Louis Vuitton one about 10 years old for 6 keys and it folds up so it doesn't scratch other items.

  • Hold off on buying the current tile - Google is soon to activate "Find My Device" compatibility.

Chipolo and Pebblebee have early orders for their compatible trackers live, tile will be producing some as well, but current models may not work nativley with Android find my device and will only work on the tile app.

    • I already have 2 of them, I don't need another just yet.

  • I ended up getting an orbitkey ring v2, I don't think I need a torch, I can always use my phone.
