    MATE, any hope of redemption?

These MATE’s turned out to be dogs who throttle NBN speeds.

They allow certain sites/streams through including their recommended speed test site… try others and all of a sudden speed test looks rubbish!

Sorry, but can’t not neg MATE.

      can’t not neg MATE.

      double negative…. 😲

      • What’s life without double negatives?

        • We don't need no education

    • Absolutely true. Streaming Netflix on laptop right next to router is slow considering. Speed test speeds. Definitely leaving. Wasn’t like this 2 years ago

  • So anyone managed to find a decent nbn deal/provider now when Aussies broadband have gone, up, up? For 50/20 plan. Thanks in advance.

I use Superloop and set parents up with Excetel (owned by Superloop). Both experiences have been great.

    • More Telecom is free for 3 months… No contract either…

I switched to Leaptel - so far so good. $10/15 off a month for 12 months. Paying the same for 100 as I was for 50 with Mate

    • Even less safe than delisting Wingard and Stephens?

  • Once upon a time they were great when on Vocus, they switched to Wireline probably 12-18 months ago which resulted in a mess. American IP's were being served blocking a lot of popular streaming services and horrible latency times. Not sure if they have since switched providers but there are other ISP's offering similar good value for money services to not bother with that headache.

  • Mate was the worst ISP I’ve used. I do not recommend them to anyone.

  • Throttled speeds and customer service was piss poor

  • fast.com showed continuously like 5 when I was on 100 so yes they throttle.

  • Worse experience with an ISP ever.

Stupidly slow speeds and they were clearly throttling too, yet even with proof they constantly blamed everyone and everything but themselves.
Churned to Superloop and things were working instantly and haven't had a single issue since.

(Edit - I know this is for Aura, but people need to be warned about MATE.)
