Ideal AM4 MoBo for R9 5950x

Hi!
So I had some amazon gift vouchers from work, and plumped for a R9 5950x. I currently have a R5 5600x on a MSI B450m Mortar Max board. 4x 8GB DDR 4 Corsair vengeance 2666 MHz, Asus ROG LOKI 850w, Galax RTX 3060TI, Corsair H100i Capellix AIO.

Should I keep the MoBo (will it require BIOS flashing to be compatible with the R9?) or should I look at a new B550 MoBo? If so, any recommendations? I was looking at this:

https://www.umart.com.au/product/asus-rog-strix-b550-a-gamin…

I intend to keep this system until at least the 2nd gen Ryzen 7000 series AM5.

My use case is just normal middle aged stuff. With a bit of Valorant gaming.

Tx

So you purchased it because you wanted it, not because you needed it. Sounds like your 5600x could do all that.

The MSI B450M Mortar Max supports the 5950x, as per the CPU support list.
    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450M-MORTAR-MAX/support#cpu

The B450M Mortar Max only has a single 8 pin CPU power, and very limited VRM (7 phases, 4+3). As long as you are not pushing it, the mobo will be fine.
Just use your current mobo, and if you have any issues, then look to upgrade.
Make sure you have adequate CPU cooling.

That's correct. I had some vouchers that wanted to use up, and the R9 seemed like a good deal @ $659

And since I purchased it, I wanted to make sure I had a contingency board in case AM4 boards get stopped within the lifetime of the CPU.

    I have a Corsair H100i Capellix aio.

Correct. I intend to build a pc for my kids to mess around with using the previously owned parts.
