  • Yes it's.
    is that EDU pricing?
definitely get upgrade to onsite warranty

    • Yes it’s EDU pricing, with onsite warranty, it’s around 1600.

      • yea definitely worth upgrading to onsite warranty.

and that price is good, purchased the previous version (p14s gen 3 amd with ryzen 7 pro 6800u (similar performance to this ryzen 5), 32gb/512gb) earlier this yr for the old man, paid ~1900 with EDU

  • That damn screen though is just so bad from what I have read… Only thing stopping me from buying one myself.

    • How bad is it? I mostly plug in for monitors at home and use it on campus

    • Is this the standard non-shiny Thinkpad screen or something else?

Because one of the reasons I buy Thinkpads is that they don't have that dumbasss reflective screen that come on most laptops these days. You lose a little bit of that colour over-saturation, and you cut down massively on reflections, especially in bright light situations.

    • yea its not great (that 45%), and looks like the upgrades to nicer ones are not currently available

Fine for indoors but colours are pretty dull

      • How about this deal for IdeaPad Pro 5? With onsite warranty, it’s 1500 and it has significantly better screen

        IdeaPad Pro 5 (16", Gen 8) AMD

        • 7735HS is a refreshed 6800U with higher TDP (28W vs 15). comparable performance, and comparable to ryzen 5 of ur original system

Screen is much better on that ideapad for sure. But build quality is not comparable. Thinkpad far more durable and keyboard is better. You can get 5 yr warranty for thinkpad, not so for ideapad. If youre plugging into monitor go for thinkpad.

  • Where does that pricing come from?
