Well you didn’t miss out on anything mate.
      NAB isn’t a ‘partner’

      Feel good! Enjoy the sun

  • +3

    https://virginmoney.com.au/products/credit-card/flyer-credit…

Half annual fee in the first year38

Enjoy $64 annual fee in the your first year, and $129 after that.

    probally lowest annual fee

    • For Westpac cards (I already had a Virgin Money card this year), you can access a reduced annual fee if already a customer. Still have to pay the silly rewards program fees though.

E.g. $49 instead of $99 annual fee for platinum card:
Already with Westpac? Sign in to apply for a $49^^ card fee for the first year (reverts to $175 thereafter). A $75 annual Velocity Rewards Program fee still applies.

      • Also worth noting with Westpac:

Offer not available if you’ve held an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black card with Altitude Rewards, Qantas or Velocity in the last 12 months. T&Cs apply.

      • Looks like you need to deposit $2,000 per month (Everyday bank account) to not be slugged with their $5 per month fee? Doable, though an annoying obstacle worth noting. Alternatively, no fee if younger than 30 or a full-time student.

    • Yeah, seems to be lowest annual fee.

I miss the CitiRewards deal with 60k points and no annual fee I got earlier this year.

Final stage of application for the Velocity Flyer and the submit button isn't working. Tried multiple browsers same issue.

    • same here, tried Chrome, Opera, Brave, Firefox and Edge, failed at final stage

    • Same problem for me but completing the applicaiton on an android phone worked.

  • +1

it does not state it is only for 1 card, anyone know if you can apply for 2 cards and get 30,000 bonus each?

  • I've had 100k VFF sitting there for ages, this is an easy 90k pts.

I have apre Krisflyer too, unsure weather to sell or transfer and lose a percentage.

I could extend for 6 months, but I'm over Krisflyer expiring miles.

    • If your KF is expiring and you transfer over to VFF, would it extend the validity?

      • If you transfer to VFF, it stays forever as long as you earn VFF every 18-24 months.
However you lose a % transfering to VFF which is ridiculous considering Krisflyer pts are worth more.

  • Is this worth it for someone who doesn’t travel? What value gift card could I exchange 90k points for?

    • +1

Well, like many others on this forum, you could probably sell them, which would be $900.

  • It only shows on the App and their website doesn't mention this offer. The website still just says:
"Earn up to 60,000 bonus Velocity Points16 - Receive 30,000 points for each month you spend $1,500 or more on eligible purchases in the first 2 months from card approval."

    • +1

      You’re looking at Virgin Money.

You need to be looking at VelocityFF, it’s under special offers. ‘Up to 150k…’

  • Anybody has tried Sniip to do Super contribution with any of the cards?

    • Can you do super contribution with a credit card through Sniip?

      • I'll be attempting in couple of weeks, will update. Doing the FHSSS contributions

  • I applied for the Coles Mastercard today with this deal. How long should I wait to apply for this one so that it gets approved?

    • +1

depends on your credit history, I would say no more than 1 or 2 a month. As ive been rejected a lot lately despite my high rating, its just from all the enquiries.

      • Thanks. My credit history should be strong but to be safe I'll apply just before it ends :)

  • has anyone applied but not receiving confirmation emails?

    • Yep. Got yours yet?
Edit: didn't need it, approved within 30mins!

  • +1

wtf i keep running into errors, anyone else having issues?

    • same here, tried Chrome, Opera, Brave, Firefox and Edge, failed at final stage

    • anyone find a solution to this? happening to me also. I ended up sending my payslips to that email that was provided, but keep getting messages asking to supply documents… annoying. Might have to call them up

      • Same happened to me. But when I uploaded the same documents to the portal(you should’ve received an email saying more documents required) it was approved in less than 5 hours

    • Applied on the 6th. 3 days later got email for document upload so did that. After a week and 3 calls I got a identity verification in the mail must be done at the post. Did that last week, still no card or heard anything back. Virgin is giving me ANZ vibe

  • Do we have to worry about this 30k bonus, or it is automatically applied when you apple for one of the selected credit cards?

We don't have to activate anything?

  • Would we also get the $129 VA credit through the VM card as a churner?

    • You would have to use it, or sell it before canceling I imagine.

    • +5

From my experience last time… my credit was still there in travel bank account even after cancelling card and I was able to use it after few months. Hope this helps.

      • +3

Can confirm its still there after you cancel. I actually booked flights Perth to Syd with velocity points and managed to use the travel bank credit to upgrade the seats to economy x after i had purchased the flights.

  • Dows it ask you for payslips? I earn well over the minimum, but having issues logging into my account.

I can show my bank account tho, even tho hate doing it :/

    • yes

    • +1

I didn't have to provide any when applied a couple of months ago

  • -2

So no activation is required this time round?

  • Been waiting for an offer like this to jump on the velocity train - thanks OP!

  • Ahh just applied for an Amex velocity card yesterday 😠

  • I got my velocity virgin money flyer card month, not sure if i get the bonous 30k points to make total 90k ?

  • Thanks OP! Applied at 1 PM, approved 3:30 PM :)

  • -1

Do you need to activate the offer somehow?

  • +2

Have signed up for the Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card with 70,000 points offer (already have the Virgin Money Flyer card from a promotion earlier this year)
Signed up for an everyday bank account with Westpac ($5 per month unless you deposit $2k per month) in order to get the reduced $49 fee for the first year + $75 annual Velocity Rewards Program fee
Seems to be worth it for 100,000 points total

    • +2

Think this might be the way to go

    • +1

Thinking about the same. I would like to have a card with insurance included as our family will travel home to Europe for 6 weeks next year. The insurance alone would cost $800 otherwise so this card might be worth it.

So overall fee comes down to 125$ and then you have to pay $60 for the everyday bank account if you don’t deposit money into?

      Regards,
      Christian

      • I’d look at the insurance closely, often insurance included with credit cards isn’t quite as good.

I suspect that the everyday account would only be required until you are charged the annual fee/could then be closed. Ideally the monthly everyday fee can be avoided by transferring money between your actual bank account and this one - should be quick if using Osko transfer methods each way.

        • Good point. I was browsing the PDS for the Westpac one and it looked kind of straight forward. I think would really only need it for emergency medical so hope that’s fine.
But if anyone has some experience from claiming with westpac let me know.

Guess one needs the everyday account setup before applying for the card as the fee is usual the first thing they charge right…

        • +1

Actually credit card insurances are pretty good. I have claimed probably 5x and have never been denied. Only thing to watch out for is more extreme sports and dangerous activities is sometimes excluded (but not always). But always read the pds obviously.

          • @blushingelephant: Ditto! I've made 4 claims and each have been relatively straightforward. Never been denied cover for illness, loss damage or theft. Certainly beats paying hundreds for stand alone travel insurance

    • did you sign up for the bank account after you got approved or beforehand? don't want to sign up and then not get approved but also want to avoid paying the $175 annual fee

    • Paying $75 Rewards Program fee kind of diminishes the deal,
and then paying $49 annual fee on top of that, too.

The thing is, Westpac is the last bank I can churn my card to,
as I have already run out of banks to go to,
greater than the period of "last 12 months" haha

  • Where on the website does it say 30k bonus? Cant seem to see it

  • Does Virgin allow you to add the card to a digital wallet upon acceptance? Travel will get in the way of me waiting for the physical card and meeting the spend requirement. I know with the boost saver, I was able to add the card to a digital wallet right away.

    • I got approved yesterday, no digital card.

      • When did you apply?

        • Same day, approval came through within a matter of hours.

    • Nops, cant do that , from past experience card also takes more time to arrive than usual.

  • +3

Got rejected with 200k+ salary. FFS.

    • Virgin or Westpac?

      • virgin

    • I also got rejected and I was above the minimum. They seem to be rejecting based on how many applications you do now. 4 rejections in 3 months isn’t great. Better stop.

    • Have you been churning? Or any reason you think you may have been rejected?

      • +1

Nope, i only have an amex platinum card which is a charge card applied about a year ago. Last credit card I had was applied 2 years ago with my homeloan, but that had been cancelled for a few months now.

No idea why they rejected me…

    • +1

I got rejected by CITI at least 3 times (CITI + COLES + QANTAS CARD)…don't know why as well. The income requirement is so low

    • just approved, way less earning than you and have been churning 3 cards this year

  • called them to cancel current card to try get in on this deal before it ends. call staff said a new customer = a new application without an existing application for the same card.

    • does it mean you dont even have to close current? sounds risky. better to cancel to avoid hassel

      • +1

As in if you've cancelled recently, a new application is counted as a new customer. So no wait period

  • +1

Can anyone please advise, comparing Virgin Money Velocity Flyer and HSBC SA Gold, which deal is worth better?

VM gets 90k VFF with a $65 annual fee. 3k min spend. 6k min credit.
HSBC gets 50k Aeroplan and 1-yr SA gold status for some benefits, e.g., lounge and luggage, with no annual fee. 4k min spend. 6k min credit.

    • +2

The SA card depends on how much flying you are doing each year. If you are frequently going long distances it can make sense.

Why do you need status? Are you flying frequently in Economy?

But American Express Platinum has more ancillary benefits, besides the large signup bonus, you get priority pass. AMEX MR points conversion to Star Alliance has been devalued recently, but not much we can do, everything gets devalued eventually.

I went 6 week around the world on krisflyer miles. Some lounges were through my business class ticket. My amex priority pass as well when doing extra extra flights in economy or because reviews said PP lounge was better.

  • Submitted application last night 7pm and approved today 1pm.

  • Submitted last night and got a provide info email around 1pm, didn’t submit it but got just approval emal 🤔

  • Just finished submitting my application. Lets see how long it takes for me to get my card.

  • Applied this morning and just received approval. Thanks OP, one of the better deals atm.

  • Applied on Tuesday and still waiting to hear back today :/

  • +1

Submitted my application last night and got my approval this morning. That was fast.

Silly question… for Virgin Flyer, is there web banking so I can manage things on my desktop or is there only mobile banking?

    • +1

There is web banking for credit cards only,

    • Of course they will have web banking.. Not everyone uses an app.

      • They dont have web banking for bank accounts.

        • Yeah, this was annoying to have found out after I signed up Dad with Virgin Money. Was hoping to keep his savings there only to find out they only have mobile banking.

This was what got me thinking with the Virgin Flyer card.

  • Got auto declined even though I have 850 credit score.

I wonder if I have had churned too many citibank cards last few months.

Will have to try again next month

    • I’ve got auto declined too with excellent score. They advised me to try again in at least six months. Will try to find another good deal in six months.

    • @gembel @theimba how many Citi related enquiries have you had recently? I opened a new Citi card within last 6 months, wondering if it's best to wait until I tick over the 6 months mark before going the virgin route.

      • +1

I've opened and closed 2 NAB and 1 Qantas Money card, within the last 4 months

probably will try again end of the month or early next month

  • Has anyone who's recently closed a VM card had success with this offer? Considering closing my current card

    • I closed my VM card in August, and reapplied this week - approved same day and, as per comments here on how VM define a "new customer", should be good to get all the bonuses.

  • Sweet deal, conditionally approved on the spot and then full approval 20 mins later after I submitted payslips . No other info requested

  • Has anyone come across an error message whilst trying to validate their ID? I've entered all information and I get an error after I press continue. Message is along the lines of a URL followed by 'Not Authorized'.

  • I just got approved for the Westpac velocity platinum card. Expecting 70k + 30k points.

I am a bit wary of applying for the Virgin one because Citi has rejected me a few times for no good reason even though I keep my credit limits low and my salary is adequate for any platinum card.

I still have open a St George platinum for $6,000, and the AMEX platinum. The Westpac portal asked for the limit on the amex card, but it's a charge card, so I just put "$3000". What do others do in this case?

  • +10

For anyone wanting to apply for the Virgin Money Velocity Flyer Card, if you hold off on uploading employment/income proof, they'll give you a call and offer you 5k additional points for providing documentation within 24 hours of the call. I applied on Tuesday (public holiday) at 9am and received a call on Thursday at 5:20pm.

They mentioned that the 5k points would be credited after 90 days if I uploaded the required employment/income documentation within 24 hours of the call and I'm approved for the card. I asked for confirmation of the 5k offer (in case the points aren't credited) and they gave me a reference number for the call.
