no I read the site and signed up, have tried to use the card once at my local McDonalds and they are not keen, definitely did not give me a free drink like the web site says, then last week we went to Domino's and they said no way, can not use it here??? have checked the web site and it says both of these stores offer discounts??? just wonder if anyone else has used one and had problems, thanks
Used the student edge card at McDonalds successfully. They always give a free drink. Just tell them u have used it succesfully before.
I use it all the time at McDonalds, one place said they don't take it but then the cashier asked his manager and she showed him how to do it. Anyone saying they don't take it just doesn't know about it, McDonalds should have posters up on the wall advertising the card.

Question is, who's using the card, you or your son?
Only ever use mine at McDonald's. There's at least one person that knows about the 'Student Edge drink', never really had any issues.
There's the occasional person that will refuse you if you only buy Loose Change items, apparently it says somewhere you can only get the free drink with a value meal, 95% of the time they don't care though (it's cheaper to buy any burger on its own, $1 small fries, then claim your free med drink - than it is to buy a small VM ;)
Had a guy once who actually asked for ID and matched it up to the name on the card. Almost refused my boyfriend because the SE card was under his English name, not the name on his ID. sigh sigh.
Other than that, they do have signs up at the stores so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
That's because the value of the loose change menu cannot contribute to the $3 threshold to get your free medium drink. (still got away with it before)
The thing I hate with the boffins behind the counter is that they say you can only get soft drink and not OJ.Yeah I usually get away with the Loose Change menu too, back in the $2 Chicken Cheese days + $1 fries :) They don't seem to mind buying a normal burger + fries individually (as it's not a VM).
I know, I've even asked for a small free OJ instead of a medium soft drink. Surely that's around the same value…? But nope.
I just whip out my phone and show them the deal or call the manager.
My son is using the card he is 13 when we were at Mcdonalds they said no, and he got me to ask why, and when we were getting pizza again he showed his card so I guess it is my money and his card, unless he is using his 'pocket money' (I wish) as he doesn't have his own income yet. I've only ever tried doing this once (getting OJ with $3 worth of loose change menu stuff) and I was given a medium OJ! I was happy with it haha
In that case Mr Studentedgeemployee, can you please notify EVERY McDonald's. Even the staff at the stores with the posters up don't know what it is, one once gave me 20% off my order instead of my drink.
I would actually prefer that 20% off!

The signs now say you get a free refill… although the fountain machine is on the outside and no one really pays attention to it…

I actually have 2 cards. I accidentally signed up twice. I have never used it. I asked at my video ezy and they said no and now they have changed to a different video company. I don't eat junk food so that cuts out some other places. I still carry it around for when I shop at Myer and in case I eat at Wagamama.
