TopCashBack Refusing Payout Due to Multiple Accounts - Need Advice

Hey there, fellow OzBargainer, I wanted to share my recent experience with TopCashback and get your thoughts on the matter.

Last month, I requested a payout for the Refer Friends bonus I received through TopCashback. However, it's been over a month, and I haven't received the payment, which raised some concerns. When I contacted their support team, here's the response I received:

You have requested a payment, and as part of our regular check, we noticed that you appear to have multiple TopCashback accounts. You may not have been aware of this, but it is against the terms and conditions of our site. In order to resolve this issue and process your payment request, please let us know which account you want to keep and we will terminate all others. If you do not provide us with the information of all the accounts you’ve opened with us and the account that you want to keep, we will unfortunately have to terminate all accounts.

I'm a bit puzzled about how they detected the multiple accounts, as the refer bonus I'm trying to cash out is from Ozbargain, where my link was randomly chosen by a user.

I did invite my relatives, like my wife and parents, through my referral links, and I occasionally used their login credentials on my PC (I suspect they may have detected this through IP addresses).

However, it's essential to note that my referral bonuses are unrelated to the payout request at hand. I'm also uncertain whether TopCashback's terms and conditions explicitly state that you can't refer your relatives as friends.

The communication from TopCashback's support team feels somewhat lacking in transparency, as it seems to steer me toward closing all accounts without a clear explanation of the situation.

I'm reaching out to you all to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with TopCashback. What's your take on this situation, and do you have any advice on how to resolve it? Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and opinions on this matter.

1 for me, 1 for my wife and 1 for my parent. Any wrong with this?

@changunsw: Did your dog also have an account?

@JIMB0: I understand your point. To set aside any humor, I'm genuinelyseeking clarification on whether inviting relatives as 'friends' goes against the Terms and Conditions.
I've done the same with Shopback, where I invited them without any issues unlike my experience with TopCashback.
Perhaps Shopback has different signup requirements, such as requesting separate phone numbers, which could explain the difference ?

              • @changunsw: You asked them how they figure it out? According to their terms, you can't pretend to be other ppl and collect cash back.

              • @changunsw: Did your "relatives" use the same IP and email address.

@JIMB0: Same IP but different email address and different bank details

@changunsw: Just tell them that the other accounts are held by other people who live at your house.

@changunsw: You're probably lucky if you haven't been caught out at the other places. They either say your referrals can't be from the same household or they have to be using a unique device.

                • @ozbs25: We probably haven't been caught by Shopback because my wife and parents used the app on their own device for in-store shopping

Not happy? Boycott them and use CR and SB… and try the same thing … and get the same result.

    • Sb are still chatting to me.

      So I guess it's okay.

      Account suspended though

I occasionally used their login credentials on my PC (I suspect they may have detected this through IP addresses).

You probably could have gotten away with it, had you not done this. They're not interested in you proving that such people exist.

    ip addresses and/or browser fingerprint

If you logged in to more than one account from the same ip/browser, it flagged you.
This behavior is especially of concern to companies that offer referral bonuses.

This is correct. IP addresses are recorded for sure.

I'm having the same issue. I referred people living within my home (they don't really understand cashback so i manage it for them).

Now they are asking everyone to send a screenshot of their latest amazon purchase with personal details to confirm their identity…

Not to mention they had no problem while tracking multiple cashbacks - just when you try to withdraw.

    • Did you use the same device. Be interested to see what happens in my house. Partner and I both have ShopBack on own device and family laptop.

    • They requested me to send receipts for each account, which I promptly did two days ago. However, since then, they've been completely silent, and now I'm uncertain about receiving my payout.

Just got a message with the same thing. My wife and I used the same device to make purchases…. Doesn't mention anywhere in the T&Cs from what I can see about not allowing multiple people from the same household having accounts.

On top of that, one of my recent transactions never tracked… Not impressed

I had the exact same experience as you! I recommended it to my roommates and they are now emailing all of us saying to terminate our accounts due to suspicion that we are the same person, which is ridiculous, he also asked us to provide the receipt and then he disappeared after we sent them to him

I have the same issue. My wife and I both purchased the 110% Pizza Hut deal and did not use any Refferals. The cashback tracked and became payable by the retailer. Now topcashback is asking for receipts and threatening to terminate our accounts.

    • This sounds ridiculous

  • Hi everyone, How was the issue resolved? Thank you!
