Now that First Choice Liquor, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars aren’t on any cashback provider, these cashback increases on booze will be rare

Oh wow yeah I'd have been waiting for a long time lol. Shame really. Will also mean we probably won't see a 30-40% again

Just recently 22% on Shopback though

    • +1

They seemed to disappear from all providers on the 1st of November.

      • +1

bummer, was good to have options/competition, and plus BWS dont stock my favourite beer locally ughh. hope the others come back!

      • +1

wow shocked to see that i always use firch choice and liquorland! hope its temporary

        • yes, same, always takes forever to get cashback from BWS and now I am worried with the possible sell off that they won't honour their cashbacks.

          • @souths123: Sell Off? Even if they did, they (or new buyers) would still be liable for any outstanding payment owed to CashRewards (Us) unless they were going bankrupt or the likes!
Or did you mean "Cash Rewards" sell off?

            • @Borg: who knows? Their cashback is always a chance of being declined even at the best of times…..and it takes so long to get it

              • +1

@souths123: Not too worried about that personally. I haven't had a single unpaid/declined Cashback over the several years with them and and orders from BWS.

                • +1

@Borg: lots of people have been complaining this year that their cashbacks end up being declined instead of approved, after waiting 4 months, plus heaps of tracking issues. I (and many others) had that happen to me a few months ago (tracking issues at BWS end) and had to reach out to the Cashback/Shopback reps on here and get them manually added….still don't know if they will end up knocking those back, even though it was an issue at BWS end

                  • @souths123: Goes back even further than that. SB was completely unhelpful with my claim a couple of years ago and it was only after invoking ACL, deceptive advertising and the ACCC that BWS customer service eventually granted a credit coupon to the value of the cashback.

BWS is generally more expensive than alternatives (even some of their specials are more expensive than competitors) so customers should always cross-check prices. Just looked and there are far fewer specials on the BWS website than usual so it appears they are also reducing discounts.

Just recently 22% on Shopback though

Plus the Westpac 10% bonus, so was still over 30%.

      • atm, with what is going on this sort of thing might end being the best deal we can get (with First Choice and Liquorland gone from cashback sites atm)

    • +2

Dam, I have being waiting for next First Choice deal to pop up over the week as ready to order. Wow, so no more deals???

      • +1

Yea been waiting too (expecting the big cashback deals this month). BWS and Coles (when they have 20% off) it is from now.

    • +2

do we know why they stopped providing cashback? I was wondering why there aren't many alcohol cashbacks

      • prob as it was costing them too much money….they are all for the profit….but it just means I will be buying somewhere else, even if Aldi…..they have some good beers for good prices even without cashbacks…..it will still sting though. I was getting some great deals on beers, esp when we used to get the bonus Flybuys points as well

  • +11

Now that First Choice Liquor, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars aren’t on any cashback provider

i would drink my sorrows away with this news, but i can't afford it anymore…

    • +5

If you do end up drinking your sorrows away, just make sure to do it with coles group competitors.

  • +1

Sad times if they don't come back with fcl, Vintage cellars or liquoand cashbacks :(

  • -1

Just wondering where did you get the information about no more cashback from FC/LL/VC from? Hopefully this is wrong.

  • +4

well, for those wanna try smirnoff premix drink
    go for it
    can earn money as well

    • +2

been wanting to try nab that deal but i've never seen them in stock at any BWS near me : (

  • -4

Number of people in Perth missing First Choice… None. Not anyone central at least. They're so far away.

  • Thanks OP was about to buy some beer and then saw this deal

  • Thanks OP

  • +2

Oh wow, didn't notice Coles group liquor was gone, does not suprise me at all though.
Well I for one am gonna vote with my wallet, good bye coles group liquor.

    • They do 20% off all liquor through Coles online every few weeks.

      • yes, but will they stop that as well? Guess time will tell

      • +2

Yeah but those of us in states with shitty liquor laws can't get that deal when it pops up :(

  • I’m happy enough also getting the Coles Online 20% off and not paying full price up front. Thanks OP I like these also

    • +1

Alas it's mot available in all states/areas :-(

      • That’s a shame didn’t realise

    • Sometimes get the odd flybuys deal at FCL too

  • Thanks OP. Will order for sure. Wish it allowed multiple $30 cashback per account. But still happy tho.

  • +2

any good beer deals? prices seem jacked up

    • +2

Yeah I found BWS is normally more expensive

    • The peroni 6 pack 500ml cans were 23. 50 for me and the 4 pines pacific ale was 46.website is hard to sift through.

  • +1

Nice price on Wild Turkey 101 ($67) and even better with cashback.

    https://bws.com.au/product/107022/wild-turkey-101-proof-bour…

  • with First Choice and Liquorland out of play, I might have to go back to Aldi beer again….sad day for us all if we can't get any of these deals anymore. Even BWS might stop if they get sold off, as it looks like. I am even worried they won't honour the cashbacks outstanding.

    • Even BWS might stop if they get sold off

?? What makes you think they're getting sold off?

      • there was something in the news about it the other day. Not sure if it will happen, but when I heard the first thing I thought of was that they might stop the cashbacks……and Flybuys and First Choice have already, why not BWS too?

        • +1

BWS is.part of the Endeavour Group which Woolies spun off a few years ago to hive off their sin businesses (Alcohol & Gambling). Nothing about them flogging off BWS. And no reason to think they wouldn't honour cashbacks. Flybuys is a shopping rewards program like CR/SB/etc. You never got CR on Flybuys.

One thing I like about our local LL is they're really good at flogging off stuff close to used-by. 7 weeks out they discount by 30%, last week I got a Kirin Ichaban slab for $38.50. last month I got some 4 Pines Japanese Lager $41.

          • @M00Cow: Those are great deals - what is your approach - were you able to monitor online or did you have to go into the store to hunt for that? Are you checking use-bys and setting diary reminders?

It's slim pickings sometimes out there so any opportunity is a good one.

          • @M00Cow: Like I said, I saw something in the news about BWS the other day, that Endeavour MIGHT get rid of it/sell it to another buyer. Not sure if it is going to happen though.

  • Can't really find any good deals personally.

  • BWS generally quite a little bit higher than Dan and First Choice

  • +2

This is a welcome deal - thanks OP. Might be the last for a while if we're unlucky.

Slim pickings these days at liquor stores for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Dans raised prices and cut out cashbacks a few years ago and now shareholders are agitating at Endeavour due to sluggish performance - have basically stopped going there from it being the top choice. BWS is a bit of an also-ran here so this is how far we've fallen.

Liquorland and First Choice were good with cashback factored in but now prices are just as high and cashbacks have all but disappeared.

Hopefully this isn't some sort of coordinated market signalling - feels a bit like it - but with these places concentrated in so few hands it doesn't take much to raise the prices on us across the board.

    • at the moment cashbacks HAVE disappeared completely from the cashback sites for FC and Liquorland…start of this month. Hopefully it is only temp

Any recommendations for Scotch Whisky comparable to JW Green but cheaper? Blended or single-malt, doesn't matter.

    • +1

      Glen Grant 10
or Spey River Bourbon Cask, cant go wrong. Maybe not 100% like JW Green but bloody good drop for price

      • Glen Grant 10

Sadly no stores near me with stock. Can you tell me how it compares to the similarly priced Glen Grant Arboralis?

    • +1

Glengoyne 12 was proved well plus the cashback. Very tasty after the recent deal

      • lol their website is such a joke. The list price for that is $79 but the promotional price is "1 for $90" and at checkout, it comes to $90. Can't shake my head enough.

  • +1

Could it be used with this Smirnoff cashback deal?

BWS website needs a damn availability filter… so much scrolling through stuff until you find something can actually get.

    • +2

Who designed this #%!@ing website - I can't find any next page button or load more items, the main menu sometimes disappears before I can click. Tried another browser and same thing - at least consistently shit!

      • +1

Yup it is a disaster, unless your searching for specific items it is terrible to be searching for specials or well priced random stuff.

      • Gave up, my local independent shop actually has better prices (even after 23% off on some items) so part of this must be Woolies/Coles gouging.

  • I first saw this in the early hours of the morning 01:45. Went to BWS and found some half price clearance wines - in stock nearby. Great. What to get with them? While I was looking around, they went back to full price. Tamburlaine Point 65 Shiraz Viognier.

  • +1

    transaction tracked successfully - amazing!

  • Across 2 accounts has tracked the full $30 each.

  • Anyone ever got this?

Thanks for placing an order with BWS - just a quick heads up, your order has been randomly selected for a security check & may be delayed. You will receive a text message when your order is ready.

    • Yes last year and order was delayed for about a day. I rang the store but they couldn't do anything

      • Well that sucks, is what it is though I suppose. Could be because the website absolutely shat the bed when I was trying to checkout and had to refresh a bit. Hopefully doesn't mess with tracking.

Edit: already available for pick up.

    • @pennypincher98: It's not random. I keep "winning".

I got a bunch of these three years ago on some big orders using three accounts, and long story short they wouldn't allow the purchases. Seems they have funny ideas of what a spammer email address looks like. So I stopped ordering from BWS.

With the removal of cashback at First Choice Liquor, I decided to give them another go. New non-account email address at the same custom domain as the previous ones, but more like a real non-spammer address. Got flagged immediately.

Looks like the custom domain may be an issue. But I did also order via an AU VPN and used a single letter for my billing surname, so that may have been a factor too.

      • 2h 15m later got an email that the order is ready for pickup. No SMS, though.

    • Yes, many times.

  • I have only 2 cash back rejected. Both by BWS. Not gonna buy anything from them anymore.

    • Don't roll over so easily. Takes some effort dealing with BWS "customer service" but if you mention deceptive conduct (advertising) laws and reporting them to the ACCC you might get a positive outcome. Don't accept their first reply - ask to escalate to a manager, and keep correspondence.

  • @tightarse any comment on FCL and others being removed?

  • Ordered, CR tracked within 3 mins of BWS sending "order ready" email.

  • +1

Took the risk on BWS due to potential lack of FC / LL cashback in the near future. Am running out of fridge filler beers, can't drink $14 cans of 7% hazys all the time…..

    • Hooray. Tracked. Thank god.

  • Why does my shit never track with cashrewards? Chrome extension says its activated but still no tracking email 4 hours later…

    • I gave up on Chrome (google filters/settings often interfere) and use the MS browser exclusively for cash back. Works every time whereas Chrome was hit and miss.

  • Placed an order 15 hours ago (last night) and still no tracking. This is my third missed cashback with BWS over the last couple of months. The first two were with SB, and now this one with CR.

  • My first order did not track so called up BWS and cancelled the order. Placed a 2nd order and tracked successfully under 10min.

Estimated approval: 02/03/2024 (120 days) lol

  • My order tracked in under 10 minutes this afternoon. Used Cashrewards app on my phone.

    Wonders will never cease.

  • -2

wondering I can stack with bws egift card at the same time or not. T&C says it will be ineligible if purchase of gift cards or use of gift cards for full or partial payment. I assume it's Nono??

    • -1

Literally just answered your own question. If it says ineligible that means…

  • 24 Case of JD and cola cans, $86, plus 1000 WWR points and 23% cashback.
$66.22 a case and $5 on my rewards account, tipping me over another $10 rewards.

  • Do we need to enter coupons code ? And if yes what is the code. I stucked there

    • No you don’t.

  • I just tried to order a carton of beer through cash rewards it didn't go through tried again it didn't go through. Checked my bank the money has been taken twice but no order went through. I am so annoyed 😠

  • No tracking yet, but if I recall correctly my last order with BWS took until overnight.

  • Tracking took 50 minutes this afternoon

    • I got 11 mins even screenied above.

  • 12 minute tracking for me tonight.

  • Ordered 1:46pm.
    Ready for pick up 2:07pm.
    No tracking still… GG

    • same here, no tracking till now. Have to claim missing after 7 days.

    • Me too…

    • Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

Does anyone know if those (Everyday Rewards) “Member Price” displayed for items in BSW is considered a discount in the above cashback T&Cs?

    • @ilovefullprice: Can't definitively say, since as I mentioned above it's the first time in three years that I've ordered from BWS, but I would say no. The "Member Price" is actually advertised on the merchant site so it should not be excluded by that clause.

      • +1

Ok thanks. I won’t be risking it and will be giving this one a pass. Would be interested though in everyone’s experience here, so we would know for the next round.

    • +1

As far as I've experienced so far, any Woolworths Rewards discount hasn't affected my cash back.

  • 10 minute tracking for me.
