Greetings everyone,

It is not the best deal but for those chasing something from the BBQ promotion at coles, they are running "earn double BBQ points" this weekend, I got an e-mail about it yesterday.

How is this post different to the constant flybuys spam we all get in our email inbox multiple times per day? What exactly is the bargain here? - an offer to spend more money and earn more points to redeem on some mass produced junk is not a bargain.

Please, go ahead and explain how getting points for doing stuff you do anyway that can be used to get free cookware isnt a deal.

        • Spouting that you figured out the absolute basics to marketing after calling me naive is kinda funny.

Sure, if you can stick to "stuff you do anyway" then no harm done - but the OP is clearly encouraging people to spend more if they are "chasing something" from the promotion.

          That's peoples own choice.

Regardless - (a) most people got an email about this

          I didn't.
So I'm sure plenty of others also didn't.

and (b) it's not a deal - there is no saving.

If you're going to save the points up and spend them, you're saving whatever the matching amount of spending required to achieve the points would be without the bonus.

I don't know the exact the rate, but if we say $20 = 1 point and the item you want is 10 points, that would cost you $200 of groceries. But with this 2x bonus, you only have to spend $100.

@[Deactivated]: The only time they get me about "Spending more" is if I spent $99 and 1 dollar away to get another point, I will grab a $1 choc bar.
I have the masterchef knife from the promotion last year and I love it. and I just got it by simply doing what every normal people does: grocery shopping.

            • @diguinBR: Yep. I got the big pot last time just from my normal shopping!

How is the fact that I haven't posted a deal in the ~6 months I've been a member relevant to my comments above? Sorry for sharing my opinion.

I can also scroll through user history - you seem like a judgemental person who likes picking on other users who haven't been around for 14 years. :-\

Possibly the worst group of products they have had for this type of promotion
    .

    • Yes…not the best products….but we are ok with the scissors.

I like the knives most, then the 2nd time pans.

  • Damn…..spent $80 the other day.

  • i just want the carving board, rest is extremely meh

    • I am trying to get the knife+fork set and the carving board, carving board seems to be the most popular one as I haven't seen in stock yet, apparently it is always sold out quickly.
