seems like a decent deal althought im sure there may be better options at a couple weeks.

Can’t go wrong with the 3D cache, this cpu would still likely outperform the 8800x for gaming i reckon. Even the 5800x3d still does well.That said Black Friday sales are the way to go.
Thank m8, much appreciated!
Yeah, current rumours point to 2H24 for zen 5 - vcache chips usually follow a few months later. So unless you're willing to wait more like a year, might as well buy now and enjoy
Good price, but it’s been this price for well over a month now. Would hold for black friday.
$615.39 at Kogan with THANKSFIRST code
This has been the retail price for a while.
forgive my ignorance, how's this compare to Core i5-13600K?
For gaming, the 7800x3d hands down. For anything else…
If I were building from scratch I'd go the 7800x3D, but I wouldn't side-grade from an intel chip on the LGA1700 platform.
the 13600k and 7800x3D are both great chips that perform similarly, however in some games the 3d cache gives a huge boost hence why it's favored
Trying to figure out if I need the upgrade for any intense graphic games in the coming decades
This has been the price for many months now
What boards are you pairing with this? They really jumped in price the last few years
The Asrock X670E Steel Legend seems to be a decent and well-balanced board. 8-layer PCB, good board layout (PCIe, speeds, etc), very decent power delivery layout and OK BIOS settings.
$489 at Scorptec.
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-…Thanks for the recommendation. It's outrageous that an Asrock now commands $500 for a motherboard. I guess everyone wants their bite of the cherry after covid hikes.
There is another option: Asrock X650E Steel Legend for $439
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-…I think the X650E might be a better all-rounder. I know the E stands more more PCIe connectivity than 650 (non-E). But the 650-series seems to have similar performance options as with the 670-series. Maybe lesser PCIe Gen 5 slot?
@Davesday: any sub 400 boards you recommend? Planning a build centred on pretty much just gaming and a bit of productivity
@eyang23: I haven't looked at sub 400 products because according to the comparison table on Reddit, they either lack some critical features or has 4 layer PCB. You would best hold until those retailers get desperate and discount. Meaning aim Asrock X650E SL or X670E SL and wait for price drop.
@eyang23: Rocking one of these:

Brilliant board so far; no notes.Spent a day copping liquid nitrogen splashes when I was stress testing my CPU overclock, and it still lives on.
@MasterScythe: cheers
@eyang23: b650 boards with Gigabyte like the aorus elite ax are way under $400 and if you want until black Friday / cyber Monday deals, you'll probably snag one closer to $300.
I personally refuse to buy any asrock for their lack of 20gbps usb in the rear
I like to have a lot of storage so personally I'm going fot msi pro x670-p. 4nvme and 6sata support
5800X3D Sub $400 approaching soon maybe? Still waiting to upgrade from my 5600X
Yeap - im hanging out in this space too……Crosses fingers for soon.
$639 is still really high and it has touched this price before already this year. It's also the same price at a few other PC part shops. Feels like they're trying to fleece people until the real black Friday deals arrive. I'll wait until it's closer to $500. Was way cheaper during Amazon Prime Day 1-hour deal at $549.
lmfao called it. prices now below $600.
wow 549? should have posted it :p
Even worse, I should have purchased it lol.
the other retailers have similar sales promotion atm.
Wondering if it is the time jump for it or wait for RYZEN 8?
