  • Excellent deal

Why is the rrp $150 (13) higher than new from Apple direct? Better to buy discounted GCs and purchase elsewhere with no plan

    • +2

An iphone 15 is $1499 from Apple.

      • An iPhone 13 is $1099, buy Apple GC approx 10% off - under 1k. Black Friday likely add bonus cash rewards

        • You cant get cashback if you pay with GC. $1059 is cheaper than $1099- for your old iphone 13, making this deal cheaper. You cant neg if this is cheaper, its still a deal.

          • @bluepop: So without cash back but with GCs, price for iPhone 13 easily bought for less than 1k. This is without mucking around with a plan you need to later cancel. Cash rewards ARE paid when purchasing with Apple Store credit, terms clearly state this. This deal claims that RRP for the 13 is $1229 which is false. Please at least get your facts straight before you try and tell people what they can and can’t neg.

            • +2

@Fancydancer: Mod added RRP to my post, which I didn’t put it in. At the end of the day current retail is $1,099 so this being $1,059 with first month plan is still lower that current retail without taking into consideration any cashback or discounted gift card. Based on amaysim website you can just cancel online.

At the end I don’t see they need to neg it as it’s still cheaper outright without using any means of discounting it. It’s not a great deal but it’s still lower than Apple RRP. But that’s your opinion if you feel you need to neg it. I was more interested in the iPhone 15 anyway and being $200 it’s not a bad deal but I’ll wait and hope one of the retailers like JB, TGG or officeworks drop the price as I have the UGC for them.

              • @j1568: Now that price is legitimately $200 of RRP I agree, great deal. I’m not able to remove my neg :(

          • @bluepop:

You cant neg if this is cheaper

            Yes you can…

Actually, if you need a brand-new iPhone 11, that would be a deal.

    • How does the 11 hold up in 2023 going into 2024? No 5G on 11 right?

  • Can someone please explain how does this work out? I am looking to buy iphone 15 outright.

    • +1

Buy it, then cancel the plan, there’s no lock in, but they won’t refund sim plan payment.

      • Right, but do I get invoice for the phone as I am planning to travel shortly and could claim the GST if I have invoice!

        • You should get a receipt as you’re buying the phone. But never dealt with this company so don’t know their policies.

      • Btw you could try buy a cheaper sim plan from in store like ww and maybe apply to that plan, i took a look at mine i could use this deal on existing plans (less than $30/m), not sure if it works on prepaid though

  • +1

Prices of iPhone 13 buying without plan and outright is basically the same price as this

    • The iphone 15 is still available

  • +1

Hmmm tempting. Looking out for a deal to upgrade my wife's phone. 256GB 15 model means almost 12% off + the plan cost.

I wonder what Black Friday will bring? My brain tells me the right thing to do would be to wait.

I would stay away from amaysim. It's (network) horrible slow compare to Boost.

      @itstuan
I would stay away from amaysim. It's (network) horrible slow compare to Boost.

Trouble with generalised statements like that it is location dependent.

Telstra/boost is slow where i am living currently ( location of both towers closest to me) whereas Optus/amaysim has fantastic speeds due to tower location 300 metres from my driveway :)

      • -2

Of course I'm stating general experience based on 20 years using both networks for all travel locations, not just my drive way. But since you have different experience, just take my comment as an opinion.

        • Will do.

  • any chance to get ow price beat this? Even if +$30

    • You could probably try. This should get more upvotes due to the iphone 15 discount it’s even more than the previous amazon preorder one. You could try to buy a cheap amaysim sim active tha. use that phone on that account

    • I tried and they said no due to having to sign up for a plan. Also tried with JB, they tried asking their manager but also no. Wonder whether anyone tried price matching with Apple.

      • I tried yesterday at OW and got no as anwser.

I checked OW's terms and realised this was specified as below.

Where the product, such as a mobile telephone price, is tied to signing up to a plan, this is excluded from the offer.

  • +1

The iPhone 15 is actually a good deal if you have a plan with amaysim already. Even if you don’t it’s still a decent deal. 170 or more of rrp and other stores, maybe you can also price match at ow and maybe use gc

    • +1

Reading through the T&Cs it doesn't seem that great. I'm on a plan with Amaysim and if I want to get this deal it seems I need to renew the plan early and forfet any remaining inclusions during my current period.

      • If it’s about to end it’s good timing and the existing data still banks without being remove, what part of the t&cs did you read? Did it specify what inclusions?

  • +1

The prices have now been properly knocked off. This is now a great deal!

    • +1

And I managed to successfully price beat at Officeworks - Iphone 13 for $854 and paid with UGC additional 20%off). Happy days!

      • Great work. I couldn't get them to price beat the iphone 15. Maybe I'll try my luck with another officeworks.

Did they have stock in store, or needed to deliver to the store?

        • +1

If you are not using gift cards then just call the 1300 number. Much easier to negotiate with. If they say its a telco deal just tell them that the phone is unlocked and available to buy outright and not different to buying it at JB or good guys. I was using gift cards so had to find a store with stock and luckily I found the most helpful staff. - Maribyrnong VIC Officeworks.

          • +2

@smarter_fool: Thanks. I have giftcards, but the moment they hear Amaysim they flat out said no even though its unlocked. Anyway I just got Apple to take 10% off using this as a basis. That's the maximum Apple can discount it to. Plus 15% saving on Apple Giftcard, pretty happy with it. Now I just need to go to a JB store to get more Apple GC with the UGC.

            • @j1568: Officeworks would not price match over the phone or in store, neither would JB. No joy at Apple getting any discount either. No success sadly

              • @marketingpolice: Did you go in store or called them? If you called them try again as heard it depends on your luck and you have higher chances getting 10% off if you get their overseas call centre rather than local. Also only way to use Apple credit in your Apple ID is to pay for online order or by calling 133622.

                • @j1568: I visited the store and the Manager said they would only consider discounting it for a brick and mortar store.

                  • @marketingpolice: Try calling them, and you can collect from the store if they have stock or they will get it delivered to you. You will need to do the payment on the phone.

            • @j1568: Damn, my Apple wouldn't do it. That's after I bought the gift cards from Woolworths, so now stuck with those. Will probably try again in the hopes that they'll price match another day.

              • +1

@Apostle0748: Did you go in store or called them? • @j1568: Went in store. Tried to call last night but outside of call hours. Will try again via phone today.

                  • @Apostle0748: Tried calling no joy.

                    • @marketingpolice: I did it.

First try, I think I may have got the offshore call centre.

They had to check with their team? But yeah, got 10% off and was overly polite as well (doubt this made it work but always a good idea in these scenarios).

I'd say just call and try again.

                      • @Apostle0748: Did you have to pay for it right away or can we pay for it after receiving the invoice? I’m thinking of having a go but I don’t want to risk getting the Apple gift cards unless it’s going to work.

                        • +1

@magster: I'm not sure if it's a requirement to pay right away, I think it might be but it's what I was doing anyway as I had the Apple gift cards added to my account.

                          • +2

@Apostle0748: Here is what I did to be safe on such a big purchase:

                            • Bought the gift cards from Woolworths and asked the cashier to open and add to my account immediately due to the scam going around.
                            • Called the Apple sales number and spoke with (what seems like) the offshore team.
                            • Was overly polite and didn't mention the retailer until asked.
                            • They will come back saying they can't do that's price, only 10%
                            • Asked how I wanted to pay, said Apple account balance.
                            • Had to do several verifications but all paid for over the phone.

10%+10% off a new release phone is good.

                            • @Apostle0748: Thanks for the tips, @Apostle0748. If bought over the phone, can you choose to pick up from an Apple Store? Really keen to get the 10%+10% discount.

                              • +1

@ozbmm: Yes you can. I did it, the agent on the phone confirmed it was available in the store so I picked up the same day. :)

                                • @Apostle0748: Thanks @Apostle0748. Can I pay in store instead? Reason is I don't want to buy the GC's till I know I can get the discount :-)

                                  • @ozbmm: If you add them to your account, you can't - it has to be online/over the phone.

It was a risk I took - but paid off, offshore call centre I think was the key. I tried in store first and manager blocked the discount (wasn't a major retailer like JB/HN/etc.).

                            • @Apostle0748: Rang but they wouldn’t budge :(

  • Tried a few times to get Apple to price match this but they say they are not an authorised reseller.

    • via calling or in store?

      • Calling

        • Same :-(

  • Anyone added this deal to their existing Amaysim 365 Days Plan? My current 365 Days plan is expiring on 16th December and have around 138 GB data (Excluding any Optus 60 GB For Sorry). Amaysim says you can keep your data banking unlimited so checking before buying.

Any other ways to save more dough on this deal? I tried Officeworks PB no luck.

Re Why 13, To save money upfront as this is going for a 13YO & iPhone 13 as its 99% identical to iPhone 14, I know 14 may hold value for longer vs 13.

  • Too bad there's no Pro/Max?

  • Got a 15, 10% saving. Thanks mate

    • When u say 10% saving was it via the Apple call centre?

      • It was from the link (Amaysim website). Works out to be a bit more than 10% saving

  • Just now purchased an iPhone 14 also through this deal. Thanks once again for posting.

  • Thanks mate, surprised not more upvotes, can’t see a cheaper way to get iPhone 15 than this, grabbed one

    • Did u also do exactly what Apostle did?
How many tries did it take you to get someone from the call centre who are able to authorise the 10% price match? Keen to get a 15 Plus for the wife, TIA 🙏

      • +1

I had no luck with Apple Stores, multiple office works, good guys or Harvey Norman. So I ended up going with the amaysim deal straight up

  • Do you get an invoice for the phone I can use for TRS?

    • Yes, does require a bit of follow up

  • Good deal.

It didn't work for me though. I tried a number of cards and a number of browsers and always got "We weren't able to process your payment. Please check with your financial institution and try again." at time of payment (even after the SMS code verify thing).

    • +1

Same, with NAB and couldn't pay with any of my CC.

  • To purchase the iphone and get the discount will Amaysim run a credit enquiry that will show up on your credit report?
