      While at the Main Menu, click on: Extras > Shift Code

      You'll need to sign up for an account with Gearbox Software and then you can put in a code that will give you the golden key.

      Have fun!

      I can confirm the code works. It is NOT a Steam code. It is for "SHiFT", Gearbox's registration thingy. Go into BL2 game, go to Extras (from Main Menu) then "Shift code". From there you can create an account (sign up) after which enter the code above and you'll get the key.

    Just a note: if your gear is already pretty good, you might as well save the key until you're a higher level (ideally level 50) so you get better loot from the chest.

        I blame the OP for only posting cd keys and no details on how to use them, as games of all kinds are posted here, no one would have guessed it was a shift key to be put in the game and not in Steam or anywhere else… lol

    Hmm. As someone who doesn't play Borderlands 2, I was confused as to what a Golden Key is. I thought it was a cd key to download the game and activate it (but golden some how). Sounded a bit too good to be true for a new game. Some context would have been nice.

    Just letting ppl know that you can still get the golden key if u have a steam account with with borderlands 2. I just signed up with shift in-game and confirmed my email. once i did that, i got the Golden Key without any code

      If you play Borderlands 2 then you should know immediately know what a golden key is unless you've only played 5 minutes of the game, if you don't then this bargain would be of no interest to you whatsoever, therefore no explination is needed.

      Considering the OP is posting a content code for people who already own this particular game, I don't see how it's unfair to expect people to know what a golden key does. Regardless, if you don't know you can search Google.

      Heck, do you expect everyone posting to explain what each thing they post is? If someone posts a special on a computer, they're expected to detail what a computer is and does?

        They didn't ask him to explain what a video game is, but what the code actually does. That said, yes, it wouldn't be hard to google it either.

    He posts codes pretty much every day on his twitter.

    For the limited quantity ones, PC runs out in literally less than a minute but for time limited ones, you can definitely get a key.

    1:44am and the win pc still works

    btw there is a way to get unlimited keys.
    save a profile.bin file and use your key. return the profile.bin file and you have your key back
    you could go and find a profile.bin that has the 250+ keys already and just keep putting it back in and what not
