G'day, Ozbargain!

We're a bowls club based in Flagstaff Gardens in Melbourne. We're a not-for-profit, community-led club, and our goal is to connect with locals and introduce them to our great game. With that in mind, we've decided to reserve Wednesday nights for free beers* and bowls. First time bowlers can come down for a spin and have a drink on the house! We'll have coaches there to walk you through it, and a friendly competition once you find your feet. With the weather taking a turn for the better, we reckon it's a great time to come and check out our greens and club room.

Looking forward to seeing you out there!

*one free drink per bowler.

    Sure can! The "barefoot" part is really more of a suggestion. As long as you have flat shoes, socks, or bare feet, you're welcome on the greens.

    I think at some point it was an Italian flag that got inverted? Not totally sure, to be honest, but we're definitely not affiliated with any government other than the City of Melbourne. Promise.

      Prior to the name change from City Bowling Club to City of Melbourne Bowls Club in 1964 the flag had already been adopted, as evident on the occasional club pin that pops up on eBay from time to time. Would love to know the history :)

  What time do the free drinks start pouring? What time can I bowl to? Do you have lights?

    Soon as you arrive - we've got one free drink per person. The bowls go for about 2.5 hours, and we've got outdoor lights :)
