Desktop Weather app (Windows 10)

Arrrg.

I have been using this one for many years ( https://win10gadgets.com/weather-center/ ) It was perfect for me, looked good, didn't take up much space and I could choose from different sources according to their accuracy. A few weeks back it stopped working and just gives me a 'no connection' error, I suspect it was a Windows update that killed it and the developer stopped working on it a while back. So then I went looking for a replacements and haven't had much luck, either they look crap or are inaccurate and wont let me choose don't allow me to choose different sources. Theweathernetwork.com seems to give me pretty accurate readings and they have a couple of apps but only for phones.

Just wondering what you guys use, if anything that is close enough to this gadget?

Cheers

    • Do they have a desktop app? I could only see one for phones and tablets.

Nah, but I just have a pinned tab in chrome so its one click away

  • Upgrade to Windows 11 and then it adds it to the task bar in the bottom left…..

    • Yeah nah, happy with 10 for now. :)

Also the gadget I was using allowed me to see multiple days in advance.

      • Pin the BOM link and then use something like Auto Refresh Plus Page Monitor for automatic updates. I use this for multiple things and it's pretty handy. It will then refresh every x mins for you and give you the updated info.

  • You can show weather in the taskbar. Just need to click this option [News and Interests] and then [Show Icon and Text]

You can also pin a live tile to the Start menu. To do that, open the Windows default weather app, allow it to access your location, and then click the "Pin" icon on the app.

    • Thanks, I think that just shows the current weather, the app I was using also showed a forecast.

Also I tried it out and for my location it is saying that it's currently 27 deg and sunny where as it currently 17 deg and raining. :)

  • I haven't tried WTForecast on PC, only on phone, but apparently it's do-able. Worth a look if it doesn't need to be kid-friendly - https://appsplayground.com/what-the-forecast-pc/
I'm still using Weatherzone Tracker but it's no longer available for download. If you can find the original file somewhere it's worth getting - seven day forecast and just sits in the corner of the screen.
