Shortly after importer Charles Lazzara had his first son, Lorenzo, he traveled to visit Alessio Povero at his winery in the Piedmont region of Italy. Charles wanted to make a wine with the Povero family, using native grapes from historic vineyards that date back to 1837 to celebrate the birth of his first child.
Together, Alessio and Charles would make a range of great wines with the structure and depth of old vines balanced by the freshness from younger vineyards in adjacent hills. Paying honor to the older, more experienced vineyards while ushering in the new generation full of hope and energy…much like Charles was doing with his new son Lorenzo.
