great, another bastrd doesn't include charger in the box…

    • +3

Which flagship phone does these days?

      • +15

        oppo for example..

just because they can get away with it doesn't mean it's justifyable.

        • +2

Most buyers of these phones have excess chargers. It's a waste to include them.

          • +15

@filmer: sometimes I just can't believe how brainwashed people can be….. if you think it is a good move to get rid of the chargers where does the saved money go?? does apple reduce price when they get rid of it in the box??

            • @HD9990: And you wonder why the phones are made in a way that the screen replacement or battery replacement costs half the price of phone and one is compelled to throw it away and buy new one. And we are talking about saving environment by not giving phone chargers.

            • @HD9990: Just add $20 to the price, its not hard.

            • -1

@HD9990: Suppling chargers is a cost just like any other part on, in or with a phone. They were never free, you have always been paying for them.

Would i rather pay an extra $20 or so for the phone to have it in the box? Personally no. I have so many chargers now its absurd.

Pretend the phone costs $20 extra if you insist on having a new one.

              • -1

@Duff5000: How many fast chargers do you have that came with a phone?

                • -1

@gadget: Is there a point you are trying to make? If so, just make it.

                  • -1

                    @Duff5000: Pretty obvious

                    • -1

@gadget: As useful comment as yet another charger.

                      • @Duff5000: I'd be happy too spell it out for you if you tell me how many of your "many" chargers are capable of fast charging on newer phones?

                        • -2

                          @gadget: I give up….

If you cant express your point why bother posting.

          • +10

@filmer: I get the save our planet thing and I am all for that but phone cost the same without a charger is a big doge move ngl.

          • @filmer: How many have fast (25W) chargers?

      • -1

Exactly, and with the plethora of USB-C devices, who doesn't have a USB-C charger?

        • +1

I have none. I have plenty of 5v 2.5a ones that came with most devices but certainly no fast chargers.

        • -1

Since the phone offers fast charge, not any usb-c cable will do.

A lot of people don't realise this, and buy a shitty usb-c cable from woolies that not only won't support the charge rate of your phone, but will be such shitty quality that you'll replace it now frequently than you would the cable that came with the phone.

          • @Salmando:

Since the phone offers fast charge, not any usb-c cable will do.

The phones typically come with a USB cable, that really isn't the issue.

            • @Duff5000: Oh good.

In that case, who the hell has a spare high power power brick? I'm struggling trying to share my laptops with my phone and switch

              • -1

@Salmando: Assume you already had one. Would you want to pay more for the phone to get another?

What if you prefer wireless charging? Should that come in the box with every new phone? Coming in the box still gets factored in to the price of the phone. It isn't really free. (note, when apple pulled the chargers out and kept the phones the same price with or without the charger was dodgy, i dont agree with that.)

Personally id prefer to end up paying less and not ending up with excess chargers. Buy one once for your phone, keep it for years.

I have several that have some with various devices over the years. I don't even end up using them. Most the phones/tabs here get charged on a multi charger. I almost always overnight charge on a slow charger just because it really doesn't need to be fast overnight.

                • @Duff5000: You don't pay more. You just don't get one. And yes, a wireless charger should be included. Would the phone cost more? Hell no. They're not pricing the phone at a set profit margin - they price it based on competition.

I can 100% guarantee you that if Google decided to include a charge block, wireless charger, pixel buds, a keyring, a travel adaptor, and a DVD - the phone would cost the exact same.

                  • -1

Sounds legit. Hopefully the pixel 9 can include a free car. Might need a bigger box.

      • I got a 100w charger with my OnePlus 11.

    • +1

If it did, it would just increase the cost of the phone. Why include it when most already have chargers at home?

      • -2

A consumer pays $30+ for any fast charger, the producer can supply their own branded ones for a fraction of that cost. You might have plenty of old 5W chargers, but if your new phone uses a 60W(60W>>5W), you should have just kept your old phone!

        • -2

This is a point lost on the naysayers.

        • You're assuming that the phone manufacturer is going to charge you a fraction of the cost for supplying it in the box, which increases the box size, reduces the amount of phones they can ship in one go, thus increasing their transportation costs. Where do you think those additional costs are going to go? Google's not going to absorb them from the goodness of their hearts. They're going to bump up the price of an already expensive device which will in turn negatively affect sales.

          • -1

@Trishool: Your also forgetting that most people dont have fast chargers and would need to buy one. If fast charging was a universal usb C feature, you would be right.

            • @lew380:

and would need to buy one

Not all people care about super fast charging. Meaning those that dont care about it get to save their money. Those that do care about it can buy one separately (and on sale) if and when they please, or they may already have one from another device they've already purchased in the recent past. I dont personally care about super fast charging, as Im always near a wireless charging pad or wired charger either at home, at the office, or in my car, and have no urgency to be outside for long periods without access to some sort of charging.

              • -1

@Trishool: My current phone uses a 20W fast charger, which actually works with most chargers Iv'e used, I haven't thought about it too much, but if i had a phone with 60W+ of fast charging, i would be pissed to see it slowly charging why I wait 3 weeks for my cheapo ebay (possibly fake) fast charger to arrive, why not just get it bundled, if you will pay $1500 for a phone, I don't see why paying $1530 at most would be an issue. We are quibbling over a trivial issue, just to clarify.

                • -2

                    @Trishool: "Definately not we"

Are you claiming to be the technological messiah? The sword of light between fast charging and slow charging opinions.

                    • -2

@lew380: You still going on mate? Seriously get off your imaginary high horse and get some friends or a life.

  • Worth an upgrade from a pixel 6a?

    • What value do you put on two seconds of your time?

    • no

    • +4

      The noticeable changes would be:
      1. Screen is bigger, higher resolution, faster refresh rate
      2. Faster & newer CPU/GPU
      3. Telephoto lens
      4. A few extra software features

    • Hey,

The biggest flaw with the pixel 6 was its bad modem Google updated the modem on the pixel 7 a year later not sure if the pixel 6a got the updated modem.

      Pixel 6 Exynos 5123b

      Pixel 7 Exynos 5300

      Pixel 8 Exynos 5300

      • +1

Maybe I'll wait till the 8 has a price drop

        • Snapdragon modems are the king of phone receiption

    • -1

A better upgrade would have been the recent P8 pro deal.

  • +5
    • I'll get me one of these later. Thanks

      it's time you forgetti

      • Cool vignetti, bro

  • had mine on discount for a little less than this during flash sale
Have to say been really happy with the phone in all respects

  • +2

Maybe black Friday will beat this price.

    • Which day is the black friday?

  • Just wanted to add that the recent Android 14 update fixed all my fingerprint scanner issues on my Pixel 7. So now it's a decent phone. I still think the form factor is too big though.

    • When did you get the update? Just checked and saying up to date for me. The shitty fingerprint reader is the one thing that is pissing me off with this phone

      • Last week

  • Google Pixel 7 Pro 5G 128GB

Just wondering if there are Pixel 7 phones without 5G?

    • +1

      No it's all 5G

    • Why would you want one without 5g?

      • +3

My point was there's no point in putting "5G" next to the phone's name.

  • +1

It's a shame there aren't good deals on 256gb and 512gb. Considering this has no micro SD slot, it should have more space, especially for a flagship phone costing this much.

  • When does this end , or is it just a 1 day deal

  • +2

Not sure many would be looking at this deal after the Pixel 8 Pro pre-order was less…..

  • Bought this a month ago for my dad. The build quality is terrible. The volume button kept falling out. The phone overheated under normal use.

    • Bought mine 10 days after launch. Hasn't missed a beat in over a year, doesn't ever overheat.

      Anecdotes are fun.

Also, warranty service with Pixels is top notch, based on my experience with earlier models.

      • I have the pixel 7 as well and so far it's been great with no issues.

      • Just look up Pixel 7 Pro volume button falling out. Never seen volume buttons fall out of phones before this.

  • must have slept on the optus p8pro deal

  • Almost time to replace the pixel 5. The size of the 7 and 8 put me off getting one. What else it out there worthwhile upgrading to?

    • i'm pretty sure the pixel 8 is about the same size as the 5, its ok for 1 handed use

      • +1

What is the other hand doing..?

        • +1

exactly what you think its doing ;)

  • $1 cheaper at Harvey Norman
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/google-pixel-7-pro-128gb-obs…
HV also had the Pixel Watch 2 for 10% off until last night, I bought both the Pixel 7 Pro and the watch last night

  • Does 7 or 7pro still have lost cell reception issues?

  • -5

The camera is not the best anymore and the CPU is less than half of what others are offering for the same price.
    Save up and skip Google.
I had every Pixel phone but my experience with 7 Pro has been the same as other Pixels which is not a good sign.
All the AI stuff requires internet and is very slow as you have to wait for servers to respond to everything you do.

  • +3

This happened to me 2 days ago:
    https://www.theverge.com/2023/1/6/23542070/pixel-7-shattered…

Google replacing. However still a major hassle and they also asked for $999 pre-auth unless send the defective device back first.

Used to own a Pixel 4 that got replaced twice over 3 years due to problems. Then this.

Also have a Google Nest Wifi with 2 satellites. The router seems to need a hard reset every 6 months to continue working while 1 of the 2 satellites has died. Google hardware quality is atrocious.

    • +1

      I'm in the same boat.

Just had to factory reset my router systems because one of the satellite was not working properly and the router dropped a lot.

Yes Google really sucks, as much as I love them, they do not respect they customers and should be better with build quality and testing.

  • which is better, pixel 7 or the zenfone 9 in this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/807900

    • +1

      https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/google-pixel-7-vs-as…

If the display, performance, gaming, battery life, and sound are more important to you, then choose the Asus Zenfone 9. But if the camera, connectivity, and design are more of a priority – go for the Google Pixel 7.

    • One thing to consider is the Lifetime Android OS updates. Asus if I am not mistaken only support for 2 years which is poor. Pixel 7 gets 3 years and release quickly being Google's own.

  • +2

Not trying to throw a rock at the crowd, however if money is not an issue, I would consider the 8 pro. Got one for 2 days already and its been absolutely amazing. The feel and the handling has been amazing too

    • +1

How is that throwing a rock at the crowd? It's good to share your suggestions / experience +1

      • My guess is the $800 price difference.

        • Some of us paid less than this deal for our Pixel 8 Pros

  • FYI:

Dual sim still uses 5g on both sims

    • What's the problem with that?

      • +1

Not a problem but letting people know that this can be done.

Some mobiles drop 5g coverage when dual sim is on place

        • Ah ok, didnt think about that. Thanks and good point to look for across all dual sim capable phones.

  • It shows how good the Optus cancel contract deal was, my Pixel 8 Pro was cheaper than this Pixel 7 Pro. Though I got 256GB so technically it was $30 more after that upgrade.

  • Back on sale again at $899
