I BBQ fairly often and stopped buying premade rubs a while back, was just way too expensive. Putting together your own generally costs 20-30% of the price of premade. Plenty of recipes out there, overall its a fun experience.
Having said that, this is a decent rub.

Yeah I often keep it simple with just 2 or 3 spices from the spice rack, making it 5% of the cost.
Strongly recommend Braai Salt.
Also I don't know what it is but my store bought rubs always cake up even when they're full of anti-caking agents. Never had an issue with homemade rubs unless there's a ton of sugar in it.
