I've got the ultimate eats e-giftcard from the bargain a month ago. I've added it to Google pay.
Problem I've been having is I've tried this at one Mad Mex and San Churro shop and both times when using Google pay, the transaction got declined.
I've used it once before at Nandos successfully, and Subway seems to work.
Anyone got any ideas on what the issue might be? I'll try some other stores to see if I U have any luck
If you say your specific gift card works at a Nando’s and Subway, but does not work at a Mad Mex or San Churros, the issue could be that Blackhawk Network (the Ultimate gift card issuer) does not know the specific EFTPOS terminals at the Mad Mex or San Churros are actually associated with Mad Mex or San Churros.
My understanding is that Ultimate gift cards rely on unique identifiers in an EFTPOS terminal to help determine whether you are shopping at a participating retailer. It is something that crops up from time to time, especially if a specific Mad Mex or San Churros has changed its EFTPOS terminal(s) recently and never told Blackhawk Network about it.
There could be other explanations for why your card was rejected at that Mad Mex or San Churros (e.g. the EFTPOS terminal could not contact Blackhawk Network before the transaction timed out, the EFTPOS terminal was not able to read the card on Google Wallet properly), and Blackhawk Network should be able to see from their end why your card was being declined. Maybe reach out to them to see what they say (if anything)?
