  • any good?

    • this gets posted every so often

its a tough torch… i've dropped mine on concrete and for my purposes, its fine

its not too bright even on 2,500 mah nimhs but for $5 its great

my cree that runs on cr123s kills it but doesnt last too long

      • Umm, tried it with a 14500 ?

The mah rating is how long it will last, the voltage is what you want for brightness. An NiMH AA will only give 1.2V, a 14500 will give 3.7V

Personally I would pay the dollar or two extra for a genuine sipik SK-68. I beleive dinodirect have them for about the same price anyway!

      http://au.dinodirect.com/led-flashlight-cree-q3-adjust-focus…

I'm not a fan of dinodirect. But focalprice and most sundry chinese etailers will sell them too.

I've had 2 different generic sipik clones like these and both failed within minutes. The genuine ones keep on going.

      • I completely agree, the sipik is really a great little torch.

      • Meritline sell the genuine Sipik and it's been as low as $6.99 on the daily deals page recently. Best little torch I've ever owned.

      • Wait I don't get this. I thought Q5 is brighter than Q3???

        • It is, but you're only really going to notice a difference if you use a lithium battery, and if you do expect your torch to get a little toasty to hold.

        • so also good for keeping your hand warm

      • nice link, but I love this quote from it

"This Bright LED flashlight has correctly specified LEDs, or un-lubed joints, or missing O-rings, high quality and reasonable price, "

Cross your fingers to get the correctly specified LED, rather than the other options.
I actually have one of these (Sipik/clone), not sure where I bought it - will it run on a 14500 ?

Not bright enough for Lightsaber use…

  • 'This recipient is currently unable to receive money.' when I try buy it. Aw, I want one! Any chance of still getting one whenever your paypal is unblocked?

  • WARNING Seller is a crook, even though is a small amount. seller does not respond to email at all and nothing receive to date. Paypal case raised as a matter of principle!
